OnPoint: Spending "Cap" is Fiscal Anorexia, in reply to
Joyce is making that worse with law changes that tip the balance more towards centralised Ministerial/Ministry control of prioritisation - another casualty of an opposition asleep at the wheel.
This is a common error in thinking. What Joyce would like is nobody other than the Minister having control (who wants pesky public servants giving advice, anyway?) and him controlling the Ministers to not interfere. He's strictly laissez-faire - the market is all.

I’m getting too freaked out now about how tight the media and the Govt. are today in framing their P.O.V
Yes, I’ve pretty much stopped reading National’s cheerleading team in the ComPost (Vernon Small and Tracy Watkin) for precisely this.
The only difference between them and Farrar (as far as I can see) is that neither of them were once President of the Young Nats, or get paid directly by the National party to run those ever present “polls”.
EDIT
Oh, and surely putting "presumptious" and "Farrar" in the same post was just a bit redundant, Craig? ;-) -

I can also tell you that Australian customs staff do not find jokes about apples amusing
I think it's part of the induction for ACS staff to have their sense of humour surgically removed.

Now just need to announce they won't to the useless and destructive Kapiti expressway and instead will electrify the train to Palmerston North or put it towards light rail in Wellington.
Labour's already stated they won't do the expressway, and will fund 100% of a local link road instead.

I wonder, then, how you vote?
On the issues, of course ;-)
Unless all the other parties started advocating cannibalism or some such, I doubt you'd catch me voting for National, but apart from that I don't think I've ever voted consistently for a particular party (except McGillycuddy, but that's not an option any more). Frankly, I'd like to ban all parties and make it actually representative of the electorates, but I know that would lead to invisible alliances and I prefer it out in the open.

Family tradition is quite a lot of it, especially for Labour and National voters.
You know, I never knew how my father voted. My mother swears that even she didn't know.
