For the record, I've never not watched the game 'cos of tense-ness. One person miles from where the action is taking place wimpering in the corner isn't going to affect the outcome. This isn't my place of work.

I actually struggle tweeting during a game, it takes away from the swearing and pacing up and down. Rugby's OK, cos you can crack a zinger through the covers while they're lining up a conversion, and in cricket, you need to tweet to stay awake half the time, but netball...
Campbell's was a super effort from that regard, he must have the Usain Bolt fingers / brain.

I'm not really a netball fan - but I usually watch the 'Us v The Aussies in really big finals' as they roll around. I like to think of it as The World's Most Dramatic TV Show Ever, that's so intense they can only show it every two years.
For me, the best game of anything ever is England v Germany 1990. The tears! The tragedy! The Pavarotti!
The greatest extra time, though, was Man U v Bayern. That was... a *fuck* of a thing.

Re: sportsmanship, you can use it to your advantage - for instance, I always felt Gilchrist's public stance that he'd walk if he felt he was out was a complicated series of mindgames. It didn't stop him appealing for catches or LBWs he clearly knew weren't out in the field, nor did it guarentee he'd walk - "I wasn't sure I hit it, so I stayed where I was," etc.
If Contador wants to win like that, whatever, that's great for him, but I don't have to like or respect him for it. It's just disappointing for me that the outcome of the race (which is realistically down to a AC v AS showdown) will always have this question mark over it. It was shaping up quite nicely.

I, for one, would like to see the All Blacks injecting themselves with their own blood at half time on dressing room cam instead of making all those pointless substitutions. But for a bit of plasma, we could have had more Piri on Saturday night.

Quite separately from whether Contador obeyed the old gentleman's rules or not (and in fairness, there was no guarantee that the 3rd and 4th placed riders Sanchez and Menchov were about to sit up and wait for Schleck either), the thing that leaves a bad taste in my mouth is that Contador said he was unaware of Schleck's mechanical difficulty.
Bullshit.
For Contador, the sequence went like this:
1. See Schleck attack
2. Start chasing
3. See Schleck pull up suddenly 20m later, looking at his chain in a perplexed manner
4. Keep sprinting up the hill out of the saddle like he'd just nicked something, while looking guiltily behind to see what was happeningAs Jack said on Twitter, he would have been aware of the situation from race radio and from his team director (who has TV in his car) instructions (via an earpiece).
The whole thing cheapens Contador's efforts, and his victory (he'll amost certainly win now). And we'll get more fecking fingerbangs.

It does annoy me when people draft without taking a turn or at least saying g'day. It does happen a bit.
Related: Do you acknowledge other cyclists? I usually try to do a little wave or raise eyebrows at the very least to riders going the other way, but over on the shore, it seems like I'm invisible to most other riders. Might just be me of course!

The route I route most often is the commute to work from East Coast Bays, through Milford before negociating Takapuna's Pave (!) then along Lake Road's dastardly bike lanes to Bayswater road and the ferry. Then it's a dash up Albert St, Vincent St then Houpetown St to the office.

It's about 18 KMs each way, and I do it on a road bike, twice a week (at least) to fit around child ferrying commitments. I'd ride it most every day if I could. It means I do a litte more than *no* exercise and turn up to work awake. I thoroughly enjoy it.

This famous one from 2006 is probably comparable to the Suarz incident, although in a much more pressured situation. In both cases I think the players could have probably carried on, even though they were clipped, but because the defenders have gone down in the box, with studs up, and made contact, the refs have no choice.
