While the FA Cup's importance has declined alongside Champions League, etc, it's still a great gathering of the Football clans here for those who've gone out instead of taking the blanket / milo route. I wore my Spurs shirt to the Paddington to watch Liverpool / Chelsea a couple of years ago, and had great banter all night with the Chelsea muppets. In a year with no World Cup, it's nice to talk Football (I realise lack of talking football isn't a problem in Wellington :P).
My fav 'staying up for the FA Cup' memory is me and me best mate, aged 8, staying up for Brighton / Man Utd, and watching 'The Omen' which was handily scheduled beforehand. Staying awake wasn't really a problem for that one.

Fair play, there is altogether too much negativity surrounding the RWC, but The Feelers... The fucking Feelers? A bland band covering a bland song? They might as well have had Autozamm.

Tremors is one of the best movies ever made. I've always respected The Dad Out Of Family Ties' work, throw in guns, worms and Kevin Bacon and you got a heck of a motion picture.

I've done my share of bike riding too, and always return home dripping, but happy.
Going home on the Bayswater Ferry yesterday afternoon, the water was glass - not a breath of wind to stir it up.
It's beeen a great summer. I love it when the weather's tropical and reminds me we're a little blip in the middle of a big ocean.

Apart from anything else, the world is going to think we're insane - picture the moment when all those overseas visitors get to their hotel room and start flipping channels - "There's rugby on EVERY CHANNEL! These Kiwis need to get out more."

Really? I think he's one of the better ones.
I find him very negative. He wants the BCs to do well, and sets very high standards for them. These are standards we'll need to achieve to do well, but when things go wrong, I think he goes overboard bagging the team.
I like him better when he's not calling New Zealand matches.
