Shortly after the event I was disturbed to receive this from somebody in the USA on a forum I moderate.
I had this on FB last night. I wish I'd realised it was a Breitbart narrative at the time.

That was fabulous. Not so much for what was said (which I didn't disagree with at all, from anyone) but the way it was said. Thoughtful, respectful, reasoned - just an oasis of rationality, a healing balm. I tried to imagine McCoskrie in the korero and just couldn't. While I appreciate their perspective of "how will this work for Maori?" (and fair enough), a lot of what they were saying applies to Pakeha as well. Thanks for sharing this, Russell.

Hard News: Always asking the wrong…, in reply to
Anyone interested in correcting a wrong, please pass on to Duncan.
That would assume that Duncan actually reads anything other than his producer's bullet points. When you're shafting your producer on air because you don't know what you're talking about, you've really lost the "debate" right there.

Your description rings bells with a lot of people I know at Weta.
Has he seen this?

Thank you Russell, for what you give to us and enable us to give. Like Geoff, I miss the meaty stuff we used to feed on, but I know from experience that you can only go like that for so long. I'm pleased to have been a part of it.

Hard News: The Midterms, in reply to
With those republican governors, ending the gerrymandering in key states isn’t going to be easy.
On the other hand, Dems have taken the governor ship in other key states, but they do face a Rep legislature in most cases. I think the significant thing that the Dems need to build on is that, even with the gerrymandering and voter suppression (Georgia WTF?), they ran some very close races in places you would not expect them to. And they can consider the success they got as a driver and gameplan for 2020.
