Polity: Behavioural economics and Hekia Parata, in reply to
Phew!
On paper they may just be good friends. But there are rumours of a far closer relationship :(
-
Why do I see the promulgation of something called 'behavioural economics' and feel the chill hand of evil? Managerialism in a workplace is bad enough. But to really destroy a nation, you need a government willing to apply it to everything.

Did Davis’ broadcast include ‘the particular examples’ proving his statements on Radio Sport?
Broadcasting standards are a different beast? But it raises a bunch of questions. Eg what if the “evidence” was in the link – which has now disappeared? Using links for evidence becomes out of bounds?
Also: opinion has quite different standards, doesn’t it? And at the spinoff, mixing reporting and opinion – mostly in a delicious gumbo :) – is more or less the house style. This could leave them in an awkward space. -
It's ridiculous. Hope the council are feeling sheepish - and let's hope there's editorial comment on this across the press.
The spinoff will spin it, surely! -
Edited for brvity :)

Hard News: Housing NZ keeps digging the…, in reply to
It seems like HNZ was wrong and now finds itself unable to admit that and so is just digging it's heels in to justify the obviously flawed policy.
I suspect it's also because their political masters have made it clear they don't want egg anywhere near their own faces - and are quietly pleased at the prospect of a moral panic demonising HNZ tenants.

Trillionaires who, I have found, did a similar kind of thing
Same folks, essentially - though maybe the Trillionaires were minus Celia?

Hard News: Friday Music: Bombathon Begins, in reply to
Celia managed Into The Void – and had sung with The After Dinner Mints ‘in pub residencies, at racehorse launches and champagne breakfasts’.
The After Dinner Mints on a good night were great fun*. Recently hunted out a grainy interlaced vhs and there was Celia, singing ‘Girl from Ipanema’ (with Ross Humphrey on guitar) at our (rather chaotic) 1990 wedding. Jeez everyone seems so young!
*I don't remember anything more glamorous than dingy half-empty Chch pubs, though - the old 'Provincial' maybe - whatever that venue was called? -
Hard News: LATE: From #Slacktivism to Activism, in reply to
Maybe this will remind you…
https://www.facebook.com/thespinofftv/videos/vb.585595504882807/818024834973205/?type=2&theaterWatching this clip, I was struck that, despite editing, abbreviation, and hyperbole, the supposedly ignorant protesters were not so far off-target. What they said in the bits shown in Jose’s clip – loss of sovereignty, more power to corporations, and worry that one’s children would suffer – all seem fairly close to what, eg a Nobel-prize winning economist thinks.
Maybe it’s the journalists who don’t understand what they are reporting on? -

Was the WordCHCH panel recorded?
Yes, by RNZ.
There should be masses of audio from WORD – eventually. I talked to the soundperson doing the recording (at another event), and he said it might be a couple of weeks before it’s all up.
