  • Hard News: Let's be hearing it,

tom, whalerider? i didn't allude to anything of the sort!

however, a forbidden love like 'jungle fever' can lead a man to do strange, strange, things. wouldn't you agree?

a woman crushed beneath the weight of that great mass of fever could, conceivably, seek a weigh out.

  • Hard News: Let's be hearing it,

i'm picking a mass dump of emails from an employee sick of the sexual harassment.

now there's a conspiracy theory with legs.

legs that should have been in the kitchen making neenish tarts and a cup of earl grey, aeh?

Both types are very, very boring and best avoided at social events.

clap, clap , clap. hear hear.

even the use of the word 'socialist' automatically imparts an air of hysteria to a commentator.

even if the email-derived content can be extracted from the book, we'll still have the remainder of it to read. black-block text censoring a la gitmo anyone?

  • OnPoint: Bar brawls aren't my thing,

i think keith's addition to OnPoint last night just about says it all.

    "DC" does not equal "journalist".

in fact, i'm willing to go out on a limb and use the words, "lying hack"

span, i agree completely, but in this is clearly a case that calls out for a very healthy dose of taking the michael.

anyone who feigns indignation when caught telling outright lies in the MSM deserves to be the subject of good-natured kiwi humour.

before the chinese decide that kiwi humour is tantamount to an unwanted pregancy and abort it with extreme prejudice that is.

in DC's defence, i am also genuinely concerned about the loss of a distinctly new zealand lifestyle threatened by the incursion of these 'asian' people.

imagine it... asians preventing dinkum kiwis in Bulls from troughing neenish tarts and quaffing chardonnay.

you can see it in their eyes when they come thru customs.... "ebony and ivory will never live in harmony on those pastries ever again...."

call out the Waitati Militia i say!

backtracking a bit here, but my favourite DPF quote of recent times is the reference to System as a nifty, 'bulletin-board-type thing' and the generous provision of a link.

    on a sunday afternoon.

    three days after System launched....

but dave, thanks for the nod.

anyhow, as for DC, IMHO the best of the aforementioned herald article is this:

Research also killed another assumption of mine - that international students are those aged between about 12 and 25 who are willing to come here and pay for a good-quality education before returning to their homeland. Not so. There's no age limit for starters, which is why a 66-year-old woman was able to rob the Auckland District Health Board of $50,000 in healthcare. And most international students come here hoping they'll get permanent residency when they graduate.

ummm... where's the link between education of overseas students, crime by a pensioner [ethnicity unknown, we can only assume she is Asian], and application for permanent residency? even better, where's the freaking research debs?

    in-sane...

i'm with "richard elwin" on this one (i suspect he's adolf fiinkenstein in disguise), send more former ACT MPs overseas.

to be honest, complusive shouting at the TV is what got me into blogging...

but on the subject of debs, i'm hardly surprised. based on the aforementioned names associated with her "thinking" then xenophobia and outright bullshit is the order of the day. ACT's concept of treaty politics and race relations are just off the planet.

i think i'm more suprised that N&S bought it. maybe someone got a hug as encouragement.

  • Hard News: Aiming for mediocrity. Again.,

in melbourne the telstra dome (the big waterfront stadium with nearby public transport access) is used for all kinds of things, kind of like RB mentions about.

it's used for these gigantic university graduation ceremonies for example. we took a break while we waited for our mate to graduate by going and having a beer and a bit in one of the many bars.
