  • Hard News: The Sound of Music, in reply to jo kerr,

The choir replay tracks for the Rwc are a full mix, the mics are real and the choir really sings well, but its pointless putting them in the mix because of the wind noise. Sorry to burst anyones bubble. The Pukaia is also prerecorded and mimed.

So not only do they not get a free seat there is little point of them being there at all?
    That is sad.

  • Hard News: The Sound of Music, in reply to Lilith __,

I gather the old-time silent-movie pianists often didn't get a practice run so had to keep an eye on the movie so they could extemporise the music to fit the scene.

Oh yes, it was quite a job apparently. As it happens, Eric Clapton did the background incidental music for Edge of Darkness in a single take.

  • Hard News: The Politics of Absence, in reply to Rich of Observationz,

explain the difference between: recklessly or negligently swearing a false affidavit/recklessly or negligently omitting to tell the full truth and perjury?

According to Crimes Act 1961 No 43 (as at 13 July 2011)

    Perjury defined

    (1)
Perjury is an assertion as to a matter of fact, opinion, belief, or knowledge made by a witness in a judicial proceeding as part of his evidence on oath, whether the evidence is given in open court or by affidavit or otherwise, that assertion being known to the witness to be false and being intended by him to mislead the tribunal holding the proceeding.

    (2)
In this section the term oath includes an affirmation, and also includes a declaration made under section 13 of the Oaths and Declarations Act 1957.

    It seems there is none.

  • Hard News: The Sound of Music,

I’ve always thought it would be great to have an actual live soundtrack, like the orchestra in old movie theatres, think of the build-up to a try. Maybe Tama Renata Once were Warriors styles with David Kilgore and how about Chris Mathews with grant Fell and Bevan Sweeney.
    Just not Haley Whatshernamer.

  • Hard News: The Politics of Absence,

All just adds up to the fact that the Market needs more rigorous regulation. It may make things a little more expensive in the short term (let’s not go there) but over time businesses will find other ways of reducing their costs without resorting to what amounts to slave wages and slave conditions for their workers. Other ways like greater efficiencies in energy use and production and greater use of safe mass transport, like Airships or something.
