  • Speaker: The Government lost the election,

The defense of Peters - he’s not as bad as Trump because he doesn’t believe what he says he’s only xenophobic for votes - isn’t a particularly great defense.

  • Speaker: The Government lost the election,

I wonder if anyone else in NZF apart from Peters knew at the time of negotiations of this planned legal action. How many feel somewhat duped at the moment.

Certainly if Ardern or English had known they would have treated Peters’ negotiation positions differently.

  • Speaker: The Government lost the election,

Peters’ ability to act on his personal grudges turns out to be the big election winner.

He never intended to go with National and a big reason wasn’t concern for NZ’s future but his grudges.

  • Hard News: How harm happens, in reply to Russell Brown,

They had actual test results by that point. Giving the flyspray story air was silly and unnecessary.

Seems s bit harsh. The Police were warning the public of the dangers of synthetics, that people buying it did not know what was in it. And said here was no evidence that there was fly spray or weed killer - countering what appeared to be a common myth on the streets.

I came across the fly spray thing myself from people who would know. My guess is it might have been used as a solvent for application of AB-FUBINACA.

  • Hard News: How harm happens,

And ESR was right again this year, when its Forensic Chemistry Manager Kevan Walsh dispelled a lot of damaging Police blather about adulterants and mystery ingredients and pointed out that its testing of Police samples had consistently revealed a particular chemical: AMB-FUBINACA.

I think the Police were somewhat misreported. Under the headline Weed killer and fly spray in home-made synthetic cannabis the actual Police statement was:

Murray said there was Police intelligence and anecdotal reports of fly spray and weed killer in the drugs.

Eastern District Police has also released a statement that local sellers claim to include chemicals such as kitchen spray cleaner, rat poison, and horse tranquiliser.

“Police have been told anecdotally that some strands of synthetic cannabis could contain weed killer or fly spray, however, we have no evidence whatsoever of this being the truth,” Murray said.

They appear to be reporting what word on the street was rather than making the claim.

The web site name is, well.

  • Hard News: All Change, in reply to linger,

It only takes for the Australian economy to take off - which it is starting to do - for immigration to go back to how it was a few years ago.

That might not have any effect on the building industry in 5 years but perhaps in 10.

It might be nice gesture for Labour to admit they were wrong to bang on about immigration.

Twyford a few years ago was rightly criticising Fletchers for monopoly pricing - one of the real reasons we have a housing problem. But then went silent on that and started on about the Chinese. - just when they felt threatened by Peters.

A bit of humility - a bit of empathy even, might be appreciated.

  • Hard News: All Change,

Hearing Twyford announce increased training of young people in the building industry was good news.

Thanks to immigration there’s now the demand to provide the work and also the market for up-scaling production and decreasing costs.

It would be a bit awakard to gear up such an industry only to have demand suddenly drop off.

  • Hard News: All Change,

Twyford is proposing a PPP with Fletchers. Govt money will be good news for Fletchers’ shareholders currently in dire need of good news.

I wonder if that means he’s no longer interested in the the role Fletchers plays in keeping building costs high.
