Hey Lucy, I just counted 9 cinemas in Auckland showing it in 3D, so it shouldn't be that hard to find a seat, even in Ch'ch.

  • Field Theory: One in a billion,

I'm with Emma 100% on this one... one's sexuality (or the label that gets applied to one's sexuality) is an internally-defined one. Other people may have a conception or a belief of "what you are" but we all have the right to make our own definitions on something so personal.

Whether thay are true or not is another matter.

  • Field Theory: One in a billion,

I thought Thomas was still playing...doesn't he play for one of the French temas now, although I believe he has retired form test footy.

Also, I was impressed with the integrity of Ian Roberts when he came out some years ago. As one of the biggest-hitting guys in the Aussie NRL he wasn't taking shit from no-one and I don't think he got too much trouble over his revelation.

Learning not to sweat the big stuff - that would be a trick worth learning. Until then...

I truly think that the ones who I find annoying will not be minded to respond. Of all the legion who comment here it is only a few (less than a handful, I think) whose posts I will skip. But I am equally sure that there are some who see my name at the side of my posts and who mentally shrug and move on to the next. It really doesn't matter. Pick'n'mix is the way to enjoy the sweet things in life.

No Sofie, you're on the right side of my personal ledger. (And I hope to meet you in person in the coming year.)

Tis not the season to name names/pseudonyms. Goodwill to most.

  • Up Front: Because You Are Wonderful,…,

As an infrequent poster but avid reader, I too would like to offer my thanks to all* the people who make up this wonderful online community. I haven't managed to get to any of the functions yet, but I look forward to meeting some of you in 2010.

An especial thanks to Emma who has provided many of the most interesting threads and has bolstered my high regard of women with brains and attitude (as well as the other necessary attributes...). I shall raise a glass and possibly a small "herbal cigarette" to people I have never met but who feel, to me, like friends.

We have a good deal of sympatico and a healthy amount of bickering and antagonism (not to mention Craig's relentless sex-oriented intense expressions of disgust/disbelief) that allows a degree of inclusiveness that is seldom found IRL and even less often online.

Cheers one and all, for we live and can smile!

    Arohanui PAS.

    * Not all, there's a few that post here that get right up my nose, but the rest are so good I can let it pass

  • Up Front: Same as it Ever Was,

OK, I'll buck the trend and admit to having had sex with prostitutes. Can't see what the big deal is, really.

It's only been a couple of times - honest!

The first time was years ago and my good mate and I were on our way to the UK on our OE. We had a stop-over in Singapore for a couple of days - just one night - which coincided with his birthday.
It was all very exotic and foreign and we were just having a good time, checking out the shops (at that time so very different from pastoral NZ) and then having a few beers in the hotel.
After a while we were wondering where to go in the evening - it was now about 6pm and we had been drinking Anchor beers & scoffing free satays in the hotel bar - and we asked one of the waitresses about a couple of places. When we mentioned the Tropicana she frowned and said something like "Too many prositoose" which was all it took for us to decide that the Tropicana was the place to go.

Anyway, a short while later, joking and laughing in the taxi, the driver must have overheard some of our conversation because he indicated that he could take us to a house with some "nice girls, better than the ones at the Tropicana". Going with the flow was the order of the day so we got driven through the tropical dusk and ended up at a disappointingly sleazy looking place where we were ushered in and about 8 ladies (from memory they looked to range from about 18 to 40) were paraded in front of us, all fully clothed and smiling encouragingly. There was only 1 stand-out and I immediately decided she was the one for me - but it was my mates birthday so I told him to choose first and, of course, he chose the one I fancied. So I chose the 'next-best' and we paid The Man and set out for the evening with our escorts.

To shorten a long story we went to a couple of nightclubs, danced and drank and enjoyed being young and horny and in a foreign exotic situation. At one point my mate discovered that he had lost his wallet which was a bit of a bummer but not the end of the world. Then it was back to the hotel, gigling at sneaking the 'girls' up to our rooms, and getting on with 'the main event' - it was a shared room so there wasn't much left to the imagination, both of us trying to enjoy it to the max (although that expression wasn't around at the time). From memory it wasn't competitive...

We ushered them out the next morning and spent a while comparing notes. My mate proudly waved his wallet in my face - he had realised that his prostitute had lifted it from him so he had got up in the middle of the night and 'stolen' it back!
