"Stole"? I never stole nuffink, squire. It was just lying around and I borrowed it for a moment, to offer it to Emma.

(Great minds & all that, my tentacled friend.)

What about hotties which, from a bi perspective, can cover either gender?
It's non gender-specific and still conveys the lustful connotations.

    So we appear to have
    - a collosal fuck-up by DHB/Health Ministry (oversight) on the LabTests contract
    - government appearing to make policy up on the hoof re RWC television bidding
    - Maori Party ducking & diving on their attempt to put up a pre-emptive RWC broacasting bid
    - Johnathan Coleman outed as a lightweight
    - ACC being used as a means of clawing back tax breaks while also trying to garner more funds to keep itself afloat until a privateer comes along
    - National Party MP rorting the tv-funding

and what sort of a fuss is the Labour Party creating about all this? Not nearly enough by my reckoning. If Labour were in power the Nats would be all over this like a rash, shouting "government incompetence" from the rooftops.

Good on ya, Craig, for being willing to diss your own team when the situation merits it.

@Craig, those are exactly the questions I was asking My Darling when the piece aired on tv. Are they going to dock 10% of the contract money for LabTests now they are reverting 10% of the testing back to DML? (As well as, or instead of, the $4.4m extra cost.)

But I am blaming the media in general for failing to set the tenor. Sensationalism over sense, every time.

  • Up Front: Outraged of Sockburn,

Yeah, well the WebMarshall at work has blacklisted PAS now because of an earlier 'Upfront' thread so now I have to take the laptop in, connect to the interweb with a modem and have a sly read rather than just getting it up (ooh-err) on the PC via the company network.

If it had been anyone else's thread I would have been a bit peeved, but not so much seeing as it was Emma's.

(And I'd like to make a belated huggy moment For Emma after her recent brain business.)

Not all men, Bart. But some men, particularly when freed of some of their inhibitions by alcohol.

In terms of not being amenable to reason and being intent on predation, no I don't think it is a cop-out. I've taken the beatings (OK, anecdote) and I've never been happy about it.

I wish there weren't blokes like that, but I have to acknowledge that there are.

I'm sorry to say, but I reckon George is wrong about

He is not a mere animal, reacting to provocation. He is a human, and we hold him to much higher standards.

because in a lot of cases the man in question is a mere animal (admittedly a human, but still an animal).

Which is really a shitter for the woman being harrassed or the man being threatened. Some guys just don't get it (and their behaviour tends to mean thay are seldom getting it either) and this reflects badly on all men. Some of it is immaturity, some of it is compensation for insecurity, all of it is wrong.

It still happens, and we should keep working to educate people to reduce the incidence but we can't lose sight of the fact that it does happen. There is an element of risk recognition and risk mitigation that we need to be aware of - more for women than for men.

Be aware & have fun out there!

I'm amazed at the $69 price-tag, Megan. Even in $US that seems cheap (inexpensive, not slutty, as you knew). I can see the attraction; nice muted colour, satin fabic, great proportions and just so damned stylish.

Emma, all the best for the hospital visit - is it an outpatient stylee visit or is it more 'residential'? (My circumlocutory way of asking if you are staying in overnight - apologies for verbosity.)

I'd like to say "Thanks" to everyone who accepted my exposition upthread (to which AndrewH referred) and didn't react as they have to AndrewH. Maybe now he can appreciate why we choose to present our discourse in less-confrontational and more nuanced terms.

I wasn't aware that I was saying anything that might be contentious, so I'm a little puzzled at Ian (Mackay)'s reference to 'brave'.

Loved the shoes you linked to, Megan. If they are the ones you are lusting after I fully understand. (My darling has given me an appreciation for such items.)
