  • Hard News: Clover It,

Then our choice as consumers to buy and eat this technology was taken away from us by hysterical new age greenies who threatened all sorts action against the supermarkets if they continued to stock this, suitably labelled product (terrrorism by any definition)

Terrorism by any definition given by someone who doesn't have a clue what terrorism is, I think you'll find.

Although it could make for a good slogan: if you don't buy this tomato paste, the terrorists win.

  • Hard News: Friday Beep Test,

Yeah, neither did I must say. The dance also seemed fully choreographed, which was... creepy.

so I'll start with a disclaimer: I am a scientist, I have researched this topic, etc.

That ought to be a claimer, surely? :-)

(Really, though, it's an interesting comment on the times we live in that expertise is something that needs to be hedged - see Bart's valiant contribution elsethread.)

The Norwegians recently decided not to pursue a bicycle helmet law because their research showed the NZ & AU laws produced a 14% increase in risk.

See, our lawmakers were right: cycling is dangerous!

    My nose in bleeding. WTF?

Fallon had plenty of impact being the guy at the end of the high balls - not sure what that role is called in English, for some reason we call it the buoy. Anyhow, I don't think Herbert's decisions are up for criticism, even the sartorial ones.

There's only a handful of teams that have gone through the table rounds unbeaten and *not* made it through to the next round.

It's much harder than it used to be to progress with a string of draws. With the old 2-point victory, New Zealand would have qualified ahead of Slovakia on goal difference.

Commiserations Gio, although I suspect you're not too shocked by the end result.

Not shocked, no. Although it is just possible I was playing the Brera gambit.

    (Also: thanks!)
