  • Southerly: Coming Up For Air,

David, I seriously don't know where you got the strength from but the future sounds so much brighter.

All the best for the new year and beyond.

  • Hard News: Winning the RWC: it's complicated,

Auckland Council determined not to be caught short this time:

They're probably having a panic because the weather forecast for Sunday is pretty damn good. I hope the folks organising that Fonterra Kiwi Day Out for Monday have got some good systems in place they could get some big numbers of people.

Look how many turned out for the free fireworks, imagine how many will turn up for a free ice cream...

His school won the NZ secondary schools championship, they had to get sponsors for the tape budget

They just so happen to be playing at Western Springs tonight too if anyone is interested.

  • Field Theory: All Blacks v Wallabies Tensionfest,

I am not 100% sure but they might not have been able to go upstairs for the Nonu try, as you can only check the act of scoring, not the pass that led to it (or whether the passer was in play). I learnt that from the Brisbane test where the TV ref DID rule on a pass that led to a try.

ah yes, you might be right, I've been watching too much NRL....

  • Field Theory: All Blacks v Wallabies Tensionfest,

Cory Jane was unbelievable with those high ball takes in traffic.

It didn't really affect the outcome but I thought it was big call by Joubert not to go upstairs and check Dagg's foot didn't cross the line before he passed inside for the try. He probably got the nod from the linesman but still if it had been the Wallabies who scored I'd have wanted him to double check .

  • Field Theory: The Cup Continues,

See I want Weepu in the spot, he's a playmaker and can kick. I think it'd be GENIUS! Of course anything we do at this stage (and indeed at any stage) is a roll of the dice.

Shaun Johnson is free this weekend as well.

  • Hard News: The Politics of Absence,

The Ministry of Education announced recently it would close the kindergarten for a car park

That is 100% incorrect and David Shearer was at the meeting where the Ministry representative said exactly the opposite in fact.

  • Hard News: Auckland, so much enormity to…,

Yet he hasn't figured out the only reason anyone gives him and his retinue of rings the time of day, is his large wallet.
    F*#kwit.

Maaaate, the most valuable thing you can give someone is your Time and trust me the Butcher has given plenty of that over the years. For everytime you've seen him in front of the telly or heard him on the radio there are scores of events he has attended or facilitated over his life that you won't have heard about.

You might not like his current coziness with JK and you might prefer your sausages from the Westmere butcher but it's just the way he operates, he's the ultimate networker, he makes shit happen.

I'm off to the GF on Saturday, really looking forward to it, I think they can do it this time.

What I want to know though is whether JK is going to knight Cleary and Capn. Mannering if they win ?

  • Speaker: Party Central, structures and silos,

Melbourne is the textbook example of doing that right. It's not so much about systems on the day as there being infrastructure to serve big crowds.

Well we had someone from Melbourne running the show but that didn't seem to help

  • Hard News: The Minister's Brain Has Exploded,

Captain Cook wharf will be hastily dressed up as a new fan zone

Did anyone notice that on Friday it actually was some sort of *private* party central anyway ? There were large marquees, big screen and bouncy castles and other childrens entertainment. My kids wanted to go there (and so did I quite frankly).

Any idea what was going on there ?

  • Field Theory: Four Years Ago,

RFU generally refers to the English Rugby Footbal Union I believe.

Regarding the witchhunt for a scapegoat for friday, where does the entity known as "Auckland Regional Steering group for the Rugby World Cup 2011" fit into this kerfuffle. The name alone suggests at least they should have had visibility of the issues ?
