Busytown: School bully, in reply to
a real sense of “I’ve paid taxes all my life” entitlement
Belatedly: they SHOULD feel entitled. We're all entitled, because we're members of this society. Isn't that what this is supposed to be about?

Great choice Robyn, love this too.
Yeah, that's a fun song! I actually like the beginning and ending more than the climactic middle though.

Oh wow, I missed that entire Husband's Stupid Record Collection thing. That is very interesting and I'm still processing what I think about it. (As I read some entries from the blog I kept involuntarily wanting to burst in to her train of thought and wave around some recommendations. I'm not sure whether this makes me a dick.)

Hard News: What Hekia Parata actually said, in reply to
I love* that our standards for her are so low that we're basically giving her props for being insufficiently obfuscatory. She's trying so HARD to pull the wool over our eyes, and failing, and this apparently means she's being open and honest. Heh.
*which means "hate", obviously

But these things have been done before. In America. And they don't work. Isn't that what Jolisa says all through her post?

That some teachers are better than others is both incredibly obvious and important.
But this isn't about improving teachers: it's about undermining the union. It's always, ALWAYS about breaking up the union.

This post is so fucking righteously badass I want it engraved on stone tablets.

Nine months pregnant with the first child, in our first house. My husband took this and I remember us laughing about the looming "Attack of the 50 Foot/50 Month Pregnant Woman" angle. I chose this* because a) it is silly and says something about my marriage, which is filled with jokes; b) it's a picture of me on the cusp of a very large, joyous, time-consuming life change that I wanted very badly and had some difficulty achieving; c) the baby in there turns four on Tuesday and I am sentimental.
*I think I might change my mind about this choice of photo about 27 times in the next few days, but bugger it.

Here is my one election prediction.
1. We are dooooooooooomed.
I really hope I'm totally wrong about that.
PS If my neighbours set off celebratory fireworks after National wins, like they did in 2011, I am going to... passive-aggressively not wave to them when I'm coming out of my driveway ever again. So there.

No disgrace in leaving before the encore.
Yes there is. I mean, I've done it myself a few times, but I don't feel good about it. :)
