my review of the new Stephen King
Lots of people die in an impressively bloody manner and there aren't too many big words.
Does that break the embargo?

You could get rid of any such shenanigans by having a single-vote system where the party vote is allocated to the party of one's chosen candidate. I'm not sure of the arguments against, except that people seem to like their politics to be ego-driven.
Anyways, I reckon that if a strategy isn't actually proscribed, it's fair game. Voters are entitled to decide they're being manipulated and not go along with it.

Yup. That case is being completely swept under the carpet.

Not in seats like Epsom, which has a huge right-wing majority in the 70% plus range,

The other problem with farming as a long term business is that huge areas of Africa and Asia are farmed using pre-modern techniques. When the people in those countries get it together to farm effectively, it'll be a lot harder for us to sell our produce.

Segmentation. The acoustic tour is targeted at affluent middle-aged types from places like Thorndon and Oriental Bay, who wouldn't go to a gig in a downtown pub. The Bodega gig is for the rest of us.

I'd be interested (not enough to spend time researching, obviously) in what the take-up is outside the "traditional" apprenticeship areas where the "ticket" is legally required in order to work at a certain level.
I've some exposure to retail, and generally most people seem to learn on the job and only do required qualifications (like food safety, or driving a forklift). If you have half a brain and work in a supermarket for a year or so, chances are they'll make you some sort of manager.
The ease of firing people in NZ means that most businesses don't care about training anyway - they hire someone with the narrow skills to do a particular job and fire them if the job goes away.

our industry training system
That only applies to some jobs though. AFAIK, you can't do a formal apprenticeship in retail, banking, sales, customer relations or many other areas. (and you certainly can't do one in IT).

Hard News: Occupy: Don't call it a protest, in reply to
I'd imagine the decision would have come down from above - TPTB having decided that ignoring the protest is a better strategy for them than seeking to evict it.

Hard News: We interrupt this broadcast ..., in reply to
I imagine that list positions had been pre-promised to aging hacks in return for not rolling Goff during the last parliament.
