  • Hard News: A week being a long time in politics,

    NZF = Winston Peters

Just like UF = Peter Dunne and Progressives = Jim

In the latter case, the party has disappeared with its leader (they aren't contesting this election, though they do have a ghostly website). I fully expect that when Peters and Dunne give it up[, their party vehicles will be no more.

ACT and the Greens are the only actual non-personal parties to have resulted from MMP.

    This is of course crap.

Government's only have to resign if they are defeated on a confidence/supply issue. If Key can't pass the Murray McCully Enabling Act (version 2) then he won't have to call an election - doing so would be a political decision.

  • Legal Beagle: Infrequently asked questions,

Here's something I've often wondered. Elections NZ provide information in 18 different languages.

How do they choose which ones? Obviously Te Reo and English. The Cook Islands, Niue and Tokelau are part of NZ. But then, is it based on the number of people who list a first language and aren't fluent in English? There are a few missing: Fijian, Urdu, Spanish and Russian aren't covered. Or do they add a language when a community group asks for it?

It's great that they do this, but how do they decide?

I guess you're pretty happy with Phil Goff then, and his trappist vow of silence for the first 18 months of the Key government.

Me, I think the job of the opposition is to oppose, and that starts the day after the election.

a rantette about how it was so much more difficult these days

You know, and forgive me for being callous, but the absolute locus of this stuff would be the West Coast, and especially people like miners.

Then of course, it comes out that unsafe behaviour became routine, possibly because the workers and management considered such things to be lesbian-imposed political correctness.

Empty Dunkin Donut boxes. With occasional ones with donuts in, just to keep them looking...

I've suffered that language, but can't place it. Some sort of VAX/Fortran combination?

That's kinda like a boss key.

A feature suggestion would be to use the laptops webcam to detect movement ingressing the users personal space and fire the app automagically.

  • Hard News: Criminalising Journalism,

I wouldn't vote for Jim if the other candidates were Don Brash, Peter Dunne and George W Bush. Just sayin.

(ok, maybe if his only opponent was Lhaws. Think I'd go skiing on election day in that circumstance).

  • Cracker: Blues Clues,

I'd recommend the use of a command such as:
    head -c 5095108 /dev/random >teapot_mp3_truecrypt

and leave them lying around on computers and media.

That should keep the cops (and maybe GCSB if NACT want to spend even more taxpayer dollars) occupied for a while.

(Mac/Linux - no idea how to do this on windows)
