Hard News: Three months after, in reply to
But spending up large on equipment to find that the work has dried up in a year or two is another matter.
This is why we have hire companies and lease arrangements, plant is not the problem either. The problem is with cashflow, firms are going to the wall out there (no pun intended) waiting for payments from EQC

One of the big problems is that our "deciders" have little knowledge of the systems that run our local government organisations, let's face it most of them struggle with a laptop, it is a thing of mystery that only those strange pony-tailed people dressed in black understand. As soon as those "Old Fogies" retire and the next generation of decision makers take the reigns we will see more informed purchasing. I hope.

If you explain to someone that if they sat down and wrote out a cheque for a thousand dollars every minute non-stop for 17 hours, that would add up to around a million dollars then the enormity of the sum starts to sink in.
Or. If they raise the minimum wage to $15 then it would only take you 35 years to earn 1 million bucks and that is before tax.

We’re too small a market?
Like I said somewhere else, "The world is your lobster"
I'm sure "Apple" wouldn't contemplate manufacturing in such a highly paid environment but they could sure use some of that old Kiwi ingenuity software wise. With good networking capability, ie. "UFB" and a good pipe offshore, we could'a been a contenduh. -

he and a few friends had been ready to move to New Zealand in the late '80s because they were so enthused about our anti-nuclear stance.
I asked him what stopped it - he said it was when he realised there was no branch of Apple here.
Which begs the question... Why have successive Governments failed to attract such companies to our shores?. It's not as if we are an ugly place to do business. Had we not sold off Telecom and had invested in UFB earlier things may have been different but still they talk of selling off infrastructure assets. Fools.

There"s a Movie in this.
Cantabria perhaps...Homeless Cantabrian: Heh, you know, watching you just now with the Deutsche Bank, one would think you've been doing this all your life.
John Key: Oh, what makes you think I haven't?
Homeless Cantabrian: Oh, n-n-n-nothing, but when you first came to Christchurch, I thought...
John Key: You thought what?
Homeless Cantabrian: Hm, what right do I have to think, huh? -

I can't find Deloitte Entertainment category...{: - )
Funny that...
Does an expensively produced rendition of "We're in the money" count as entertainment?
