It's universal suffrage or bust. And let's lower the voting age, sure. Kids need a lot more of a say in how things work
See, I don't agree with that for so many reasons. There are plenty of right minded teens around, but not enough in my view to warrant lowering the voting age. But then, I don't think kids should be allowed to have sex till they're 18, so what would I know?

God, robbery - who'd have thunk it, eh? And you only spieled about NZ on Air once. Good for you. Nice article, you modest person.

Yup, she was like that, alright. I still bawl about once a week for her, and I really only knew her for the last 15 years or so of her life.

The evening began with a moving musical tribute to the late Mahinarangi Tocker. One of our regulars here, Jackie Clark, was Mahinarangi's friend and sister in law, and she can be assured that the spirit of that tribute flowed through the evening.
Thanks for that, Russell. I know that her daughter, her partner and one of her sisters were there last night, and found it very moving. Like Craig said, it would be nice if she had had that recognition whilst she was alive, however it's lovely that it's happening for her now.

I would be a terrible bastard as a parent. I am so censorious - my nieces have been heard to say to me " But Auntie Jackie, my mum let's me watch it".

If it were a lymphoma, I wouldn't be breezily posting medi-porn.
Quite. And I'm very surprised that no-one has commented on the hairs sticking out of your very wobbly lumpy bit. You know what it looks like to me? A hairy yam, or alternatively, one of those growths that were supposed to be babies, but never developed properly, you know the ones. They have bits of bone, teeth, hair. Yeah, it looks like one of those.

I haven't seen such dogmatic belligerence since the Unifems in the 80s.
If it's the Auckland Unifems you are speaking of, yes, we were a bit, weren't we?

Ohhhhh I see. Hadn't realised that it was only for the labels. In which case, of course they're the ones nominating their acts. It makes sense, I guess.

I am so looking forward to her views changing as she finds out the reakity of being a parent as opposed to just being an Aunty.
Might I be so presumptuous as to say, on behalf of all Aunties out there, how rude! But seriously, aunties and uncles fulfill a very important role in a child's life. Some of us do it on a semiprofessional basis. And some of us take our duties very seriously. Who else can your niece lie to, and finagle something out of - something that is alarmingly expensive and that her father has repeatedly said she can't have? Why, Aunty Jackie. Who else can hopefully allay some body issues raised by a dieting mummy, and a granny who's not much past all that bollocks, by swimming naked with her young charges, and relishing in her own lovely wobbly fat? Their Aunty, that's who. Who keeps children real about their behaviour, and does it by resorting to level stooping? Aunty, aunty, aunty! And those are but a few examples of an Aunty/Uncle's place in a child's life. I don't have children , I don't want children, I work with small children every day. Do I want to take them home with me? No. Do I, however, wish to be subversive? Yes. How do I do that? Become an Aunt......you see?

I didn't find your explanation at all boring, robbery. Kindly school teacher? No. Reasonable person explaining to another reasonable person the inner workings of RIANZ? Yes. So thankyou for that. Look robbery, I know peeps, family and friends, that are members of RIANZ. One or three of them may have won awards in their time. Exercise in self promotion? Maybe. And why not. If you believe in what you are doing, blow your trumpet. Is there anything at all stopping any musician in NZ joining RIANZ?
