She's a chick?! I always assumed Tracy to be short for "Spencer Tracy" or something. How can a woman be both into rugby *and* statistics?

and I noticed those pragmatic Italians trying it a couple of times this morning.

Might have had something to do with not being able to get into the bloody penalty box.

See, I thought that only happened when we *lost*.

In the 1966 World Cup Italy was eliminated after a loss to North Korea and we decided to take it out on immigrants instead, banning foreign players from the domestic league. The ban was rescinded in 1981, and in 1982 we won the World Cup.

(Look at me, merging threads with the force of many Italian girlie men.)

Wow. I'm not even going to ask you what you meant by that - it has a certain wonderful what-the-fuckness about it that I would hate to spoil.

  • Hard News: The Disingenuous Press,

Dear me, it was perfectly clear in the article and Russell repeated it in the comments: the issue is not that Roughan's position is at odds with the editorial line of the paper, it's that he expressed it as a polemic with another media outlet rather than with the Herald's own editorial. That does strike one as disingenuous.

He would argue (in fact, I think he did) that he traded that perk in exchange for a lower salary. But the man was voted into Parliament how many times? I don't begrudge him a lifelong discount on our flagship airline.

Or rather, I wouldn't. I actually do in his case, since his shtick is privatisation and he couldn't expect that perk from a wholly privatised Air NZ.
