Me three. I always get a wee bit suspicious when the critics rave, and then several of my more faddy friends rave, about a film. Plus which any film that Tom Cruise is in, no matter how good the rest of the cast is, is not one that I want to see.

I have nothing to say re the original post - I just wanted to send my thoughts to Finn's beloveds. I hope you find him safe and sound, soon.

Oh yes, Sofie. My very favourite time of year. I live on a little cul-de-sac off Marsden Ave, a road that runs between Mt Eden and Dominion Rds. Turning right into Mt Eden Rd is a special joy at that time of year.

I'm a self identifying Aucklander. Fifth generation, very proud of it. There are lots of us around you know. I don't think that Auckland is better than any where else, it's just my home. Always has been, even when I wasn't living here, and always will be. But my love for it is more about the region than the city, the land more than the people, the places more than the buildings. If I'm being really honest, and it's an ugly thing to say but it's how I feel in the darkest part of me, I sometimes wish that all the people who've come here from elsewhere would bugger off somewhere else, just for five minutes, and leave the place to the REAL Aucklanders. I guess a lot more people feel like that about where they come from than would be honest about it.......or am I alone in my need for solitude and space, and my reluctance to move from my turangawaewae to find it?

DJ Peter Urlich on a tour of hotel ballrooms
I don't know why he just couldn't have stayed the lead singer of th' Dudes, and be done with that.
Auckland has its advantages
Well yes it does - we have great cultural events around this time of year, especially. Like the wonderful Philharmonic concert that's on at the Villa Maria Estate today. But then there's the rain, and how difficult it is to organise these things when we have a very high rate of precipitation. It's doing it at the moment........

It hardly matters in any case. No vote... even though the eventual winner of the US election will happily declare herself to be the leader of the free world.
I know, what's up with that. If they truly are the "leaders of the free world" then you think they'd give all of us a say, eh? Now there's a thought. Global vote for the President of the USA and leader of the free world.

"Perhaps Obama's father from Africa taught him some different ways of thinking, from that part of the world, not like the way Americans think, so he's more smart about the world than if he was just American. Because people in Africa have to do more things from scratch rather than just buying stuff, like in America, so it makes them smarter."
Now that's what I call a thinking response. What a very intelligent boy you have, Jolisa. I'm slightly sad that it looks like Hillary won't be the Democratic candidate - I think she has huge amounts of experience to bring to the job, and a lot of savvy - but I guess Barack is who the people want to stand for them. He's hip and young and all that stuff. And he's got people excited, so I guess that's good. Still would like to see a woman President, though, eh?

and i do love pushing dasies, possibly my favourite show of the new season
Me too, Sue. Diana Witchel was very scathing of it, but we don't care, do we? I love the backdrops - very effective, in their primary colours. And congratulations to you, Mr Brown. About time. And big ups to TVNZ On Demand. I watch quite a bit of stuff on there. Very useful for those of us who had the freeview box the minute it came out, and then just couldn't work out how to connect it, so had to return it and get our money back.

Wouldn't it be nice to have a beautiful bridge like that? Maybe we wouldn't mind the shitty traffic if we had something nice to gaze upon as we crawled across? I'm all for it. I like a good aqueduct meself!
