  • Hard News: Dirty Politics, in reply to Kumara Republic,

    a law unto themselves...

In Britain, the London Met found itself knee-deep in the Hackgate scandal. And QLD Police Commissioner Terry Lewis was himself busted for being too close to Sir Joh.

But here in NZ we suffer none of that 'carrion' - all is fine as Louise Upston reassured us in her maiden speech in 2008:

"Let's not be mistaken. The police are good.
The criminals are bad. It's that simple."

I wonder if she still thinks that, but then again she doesn't get out much, as shown by her National website - apparently nothing has happened in her life or electorate since April 2014, no elections, nothing...
... obviously another great communicator, like John Key.
Women's Affairs are in good hands then...

Speaking of Key's communiques, his address to the 2014 Post-Election conference lays it all out for us:

Periodically I say to my caucus colleagues, when you walk down the street, look at the people you pass by and think about how we need to reflect the hopes and aspirations of one in every two of them.

Still working on that country divided, eh John?

... he also thanks Bronagh and the kids for letting him follow his dreams, while we have to live in his nightmare
    - that wake up call can't come soon enough!

    teed off...

    Until someone loses an eye.

    indeed:

Each year, nearly 40,000 golfers are admitted to emergency rooms after being injured at play, most by errant golf balls and flying clubheads. It's accidents like those -- and untold other injuries and near misses -- that led Golf Digest to conduct the most ambitious golf-safety test project ever attempted. We wanted to find out exactly what kind of damage can be expected from the most common types of impact -- and how to prevent it.

from memory the tee off areas at Hagley point away from the path, but a superhuman shot from else where or a mis-hit , deflection or dislodged club head could still wreak havoc...

    the Prince of Prevaricators
I accidentally saw some of a mercifully Hosking-less Seven Sharp the other night - it actually had one piece of interest (well I didn't watch all the show, as the female replacement also seemed to have Hosking's penchant for dumbing things down and is blatantly anti-knowledge, why do they do that?)

This though, should be required viewing for all who think Key is transparent and honest - Body language doesn't lie - and it confirms everything I think when I watch and listen to the man.

Because riding a bike across a fairway where people are teeing off sounds like a recipe for someone to get seriously hurt.

    Trouble up at mill, Guv...
One wonders if it is not time for the Governor General to either refuse to 'rubber stamp' National's rushed increased SIS powers legislation
    or
dismiss the Prime Minister as an untrustworthy prevaricator who is misleading the country and thereby the Queen.
(proroguing a gallery of rogues, perhaps?)

He at least needs to question the PMs intentions.
...and question whether the PM and Government are keeping him fully informed as required under the Letters Patent - especially as Key seems to be unable to keep his facts straight, and arguably acting without a mandate against the wishes (and possibly against the best interests) of 'we, the people'.

Could be an interesting meeting of the Executive Council this morning...

Did anyone reading here go to the 'Entrain' New Years Eve Dance Party, near Nelson in 1995/96?

A man who may have witnessed an alleged sexual assault during a New Year's Eve celebration nearly 20 years ago is being urged to come forward.
Canterbury police released two photographs today of a man known as Barney, urging him to get in contact with them.
The man may have witnessed a possible sexual assault against a woman who travelled to a dance party in the Nelson area, called Entrain, on New Year's Eve in 1995.

I do raise an eyebrow at the strictness of interpretation of the term ‘hacked’ that you’re employing.

    Mea culpa:
'twas I that introduced the loose terminology 'hacked' and I believe Stephen was responding to my looseness-of-concept-without-proof.
I also believe him to be someone who knows-of-what-he-speaks and whose clarification and insights I'm grateful for.
