Check if it's actually an insult.
One of the drawbacks of not being face to face is that it's harder to tell. A smile or a wink when something's said face-to-face are clues - so I find those little marks people make on the blogs quite useful.
I have to say, having met and talked to several Auckland/Hamilton people (thanks to Jackie C), I am not nearly so painstaking (I wonder if any of them have noticed?) to avoid any hint of a snark with them. (Of course, the next time we all meet up, I might get a bop over the ear for my smarts!)

I have been a colossal ass on the internet before
Sorry Bart, but I really don't believe you.

Tussie-mussie! We could have a new one: a fussie-wussie!

Well, he doesn't narrate, actually. He just puts a few comments in on the way. It's Harry Lyon (that well-known muso "voice" - well, I'm guessing there aren't two in NZ) who does the voice-over.
But apart from that, what a bloody miserable story. No winners there, at all.

When I can make you cry, I’ll know I’m getting somewhere.
But only if we admit it. Otherwise you won't know :)
Talking about making one cry - I watched "Darklands" last night, and within a couple of minutes was weeping over a two-year-old, given away by his mother and totally lost as a result. (Later, he became a killer.)
Oh, probably a threadjack. Apologies. -

So Bart shouldn't separate his Twitter; which'd probably lead to a renaissance in plant biology research funding, increased student numbers, and a whole new genus of pretty, witty, talking plants that look like Emma.
And why not, pray?

Of course, writers can have “entitlement issues” too
Teehee!

A complete lack of evidence to support your thesis makes this beyond ridiculous.
I didn't go to university. Didn't do theses. Can't really argue to save myself. (But I'm learning, here! Hah!)

Humans generally behave well socially towards each other even when faced with complete strangers.
I think you do, Bart. (You like kittens too, which is a winner for me). I think you're a very nice person. And I generally behave well towards others, too. I think we (we humans) are all connected. (Actually, truth be known, I think the whole of life, planets, stars, space, humans, animals, etc. is connected.)
But humans as a group can and do declare war on others in another group, often, as if they are completely separate. It's one of the saddest things about our race, wouldn't you say?

Responds, blushing, to RB, JC, and CR:
OK. I won't call myself anything derogatory on here again, promise.
However, there are some very, very quick and clear minds who are stunning at grasping the essence of arguments, and putting forward their views by return, while people like me wander around the periphery. But you're right, Craig - it's a feast most of the time. You're sitting in on an intellectuals' coffee break conversation, which is not even their real work - they're doing it for fun!
