Doesn't the editor of the BoP Times realize that drug use can never be stamped out?The war on drugs is one alimghty gravy train (what the hell is the DEA doing in Afghanistan???). It is going to take a seismic shift in public opinion before politicians have the the balls to tackle this issue rationally. A man walking through an airport with a pocketful of cannabis is not nearly as dangerous as a man with a pocketful of dynamite, and yet they seem to treated with the same amount of disapprobation by the authorities and society in general. What gives?

And there's the rub. If you know what they're doing, then al qaeda probably knows as well. However, I agree - the lie is the travesty, not the actions so much.
Thanks for that, Paul.

It seems to me that the less is known about the nature of our role in Afghanistan, the less likely NZ will become a target of international terrorism. Is that not the thinking behind the NZDF's secrecy?

Is there a chance that this bill was rushed through in an attempt to pre-empt a more draconian version being introduced via the TPPA agreement?

I agree with those saying that it looks like a dick move to sing that particular song just as the police were doing what I understand was a routine check.
Or it was simply a way for Taane to peacefully express his displeasure with what was happening?

he seemed pretty relaxed about them in that interview
Well, its never a good look to lose your rag on television.

Police summary; read 'here are the police behaving like angels and here is joe citizen provoking them beyond their limits'. Yeah right.
I wonder what did Taane refuse to co-operate with exactly?
I wouldn't be surprised if this is partly a reaction on Taane's part to years of persecution and discrmination from the fuzz. Perhaps it all boiled over that night?

'Zero tolerance' is a platitude and hearing it in relation to schools has to be the saddest thing about this whole bullying business.
