My view is that marriage should be availible all couples regardless of gender. It sticks in my craw that I could get married simply because the person I happen to love is female, and my sister can't marry her partner because they have a penis-free relationship.
The law discriminates, it's unfair and not right to deny people what I see as a basic right. End of story.

The question that leaps to mind is “why doesn’t that put the men off?”.
It did, that's why I had such a bad view of the interweb. Until I came here....

But...isn't there a good thing we will not get, ie more private savings for retirement, and less private debt? Help me understand Keith!
I'm not sure what you mean here. If by private savings you mean Kiwisaver, then no there probably will not be more money going in.
A number of businesses allready treat Kiwisaver as a benefit towards the overall value of an emaployment package, like an insurance package.
Base Salary + Benefits = Total Value.
If the cost of the benefits goes up then this will put a squeeze on the base salary even though the total value of the package goes up. I haven't done the maths, however with the government contributions being reduced you will save less real money while costing your employer more. Everyone loses.

Latest skype theoretically does multi-person video (but not on my Mac). There are other apps coming along. But audio and screen-sharing/web-casting/collaboration is actually more cost-effective and useful than multi-person video in my experience.
If you are on a Mac you can use iChat for multi person video. It uses the AIM protocols so your Windows and Linux friends can play as well.

Mine would be a Cuttlefish. I watched a tank full of them in Singapore, swimming and changing colours, for ages*.
I also like turtles, have no idea why, not one I can convey articulately anyway.
*Ages in this case, was when my Wife tugged my sleeve and said "It's been fifteen minutes" -

Question: how many of you here are Usenet veterans, and is that where you learned your culture of internet argument?
The newsgroups (rec.games.frp and some of it's descendants) I used to lurk in had a similar culture to here, but had a small group of regular posters.
I bowled on over to the nz.general and nz.comp ones and soon left afterwards due to the way disagreements got pretty personal very quickly.

Clark partly got on the front foot both by changing her media strategy (including by bringing in the excellent and very reasonable Mike Munroe) and also by doing more with regional papers and in regional visits.
I remeber Clark turning up on the radio a lot for at least a year or so before the 1999 election, it could have been longer. One group of DJ's in the Massey Student Radio would contact her on a weekly basis and get her (and Labours) thoughts on the issues of the day. She would also be quite clear about when she was giving a personal opinion or the view of the Labour Party.

Rex, I’m with Islander on this one. I have always voted Labour but must admit that I very much liked when MMP was introduced because it meant that I could not only vote Labour but I could vote for the best ELECTORATE MP
I worked for Consumer Link/Colmar Brunton in the mid 90s, when I was a student in Palmerston North. One of the surveys we had to do was on MMP. I have never seen so many staunch National voters praise MMP because they could still vote National and vote for Steve Maharey at the same time.
Until then I had no idea how respected he was, virtually no one bagged him,

In Arizona, Glocks have been flying off the shelves since the shootings.
American gun culture scares the living shit out of me. I recall seeing an american 'Neighbours at War' style show and being shocked that people were shooting at each other. The general tone of the comentary was "It's sad that a man lost his life over a driveway". Nobody even touched on the fact that the people in question were more than ready to shoot each other over something that trivial.

I'm waiting for "It might have been an evil robot that looked just like GWB, but was programmed by the Grey reptile aliens from Zeta Reticuli acting in concert with the Bilderbergers."
Well, indeed it might be.
I blame the Flying Spaghetti Monster for everything. Obama is a secret Pastafarian.
