A few interesting things.
Nets have called NC for Obama.
CNN has exits saying 50% of Hillary voters wouldnt vote for Obama.
Exits have Obama winning independents.

I take it nobody believes Mr Hagar's claim that the material was leaked to him by 'principled conservatives' within the National Party?
I'd like to think so.
Whatever anyway, it's a shame that the MSM did, and will, ignore all the underlying issues Hagar's book threw up - neo-liberal vs. conservative ideological tensions within right-wing political parties, the influence of money in politics and the debasement of our democracy...

We can now officially give up on the always-far-fetched-idea that the emails at the heart of The Hollow Men were snatched from the Parliamentary email system by some master hacker.
So, whodunit?

For goodness sake. Just say "circumstances change" or something. That's perfectly alright. But please, don’t make a claim to have been misquoted your standard response when it's suggested that you've changed your mind. It's not a very good thing to say to a journalist.
You’re totally right Russell. I think we’re now seeing the so-far so-timid media frame around John Key change to is this guy really up to being Prime Minister? And the answer seems to be not really.
A hope and a smile will only get you so far, but whenever he is asked to talk about policy – it comes out all wrong. Or not at all. And my sense is that the concern around Mr Key actually not having anything much to offer is seeping through the wider electorate.
-
And seriously, is it wise to send Brian Connell anywhere?
Perhaps John Key is actually a genius and didn’t want Brian Connell anywhere near NZ for as much of election year as possible...
But seriously – it was all over the television news last night too. Crapo lazy coverage. And from talks I’ve had today, people are getting pretty sick of this kind of juvenile journalism from our MSM.
As Vernon predicted, it pretty much overshadowed the fantastic science funding announcement. Why cant we have a proper discussion on the big issues facing New Zealand? Why?

Funny thing about Florida and Michigan moving their contests earlier in order to have more influence on the outcome is this: if they hadn’t moved them, they would have had their primaries just after Super Tuesday. With the Democratic race running this late Florida and Michigan would have probably decided the nomination. Doh.
-
Watching this amazing Democratic race it is amazing how familiar this all seems... I mean it’s all about West Wing Series Six - Episode "2162 Votes"...
Could it be that we're seeing series six of The West Wing play out in real life? I mean, insurgent candidate with an inspirational message and an ethnic minority background, up against experienced insider candidate. Obama vs. Hillary or Santos vs. Russell?
The way that the delegate count is going in 2008 - are we lining up for a real nomination convention with all the drama and excitement of the final episode of series six? And are we in for the same outcome in the general?
Stay tuned…

I wouldn't rule out a National Government bringing in one currency with Australia (with much rhetoric about New Zealand taking its place in the wider world).
You might be right about that. Key has mused about it in the past saying, "It's one of those things where I would have thought some solid work on it makes sense".
Being a currency shark I'm sure he'll be all too keen to dabble a bit with the Kiwi dollar and economy.
Interestingly the article also states that Key can’t remember if he helped in the famous 87 attack on the Kiwi currency by a currency shark called Andy Krieger. Yet he says: "He was a pioneer, in the sense he was one of the few people in the world who understood the options market before it was really established. He blazed a trail and that gave him a strategic advantage early on."
Ummmm, you can remember who your currency shark hero is but not if you helped in the trade that made him famous?
Is there anything you can remember Mr Key?
I wonder if he could recall how much higher interest rates have been pushed in New Zealand because of his (and his mate’s) attacks on our currency…

There's been a bit of talk McCain will pick Huckabee as his running mate.
You're right about that. It seems like Huckabee is hanging in there until Super Tuesday so he can siphon conservative votes away from Romney in the South, hand McCain the nomination and then jump on the ticket. And that would make the general pretty interesting.
Authentic maverick leader with cross over appeal and conservative southern governor would untie the Republicans and make life very hard for the Democrats. I bet Hillary and Obama are praying for a Romney upset.

Obama endorsed by Scarlett Johansson - he's got my vote...
