  • Hard News: The Orcon Great Blend 2010:…,

My second ticket can be a Rachel or a Don.

The Don will be pleased. No severed horses head in your bed when you get home.

And whilst we're on that subject...

The Oily one may have his uses.

[I am not being snide about this -- he (or someone else) has done a really nice job]

It is, indeed, a well built site and Hosted, it seems, in the cloud. These guys are behind it. More bloody Aussies for us to "Catchup" with.

And on the subject of members...

Mayoral candidate Colin Craig said Mr Banks had a vocal, one-eyed support team who constantly interrupted Mr Williams.

"It was extremely childish. There were no punches or anything physical involved other than the two were right in each other's face.

"It was like two cocks in a cock fight."

Well, you are what you eat, as they say.

  • Busytown: The shakes,

Thanks Chris W , that was very interesting.
Was going to post this earlier but I've been stuck under a car, don't ask.
Have a look at MARK QUIGLEY’S HOMEPAGE
    Quite reassuring.

UPDATE ON CHRISTCHURCH EARTHQUAKE FOR PRESS AND PUBLIC (AS OF 9:00 pm NZ time September 8th 2010): Why the aftershocks and when will they stop? Will the Lyttelton Volcano erupt?

And before you start panicing the Volcano is "Well Extinct" according to Dr Quigley.

  • Up Front: Day Five,

we were living in the UK in the 1980s, and it is feared our blood might turn everyone into mad cows.

    Or Grey Teddy Bears apparently.

What about the lack of any statistical link for anal sex?

    Bugger statistics.

  • Hard News: And this week we look at ... Auckland!,

However, I do concede that Banks appears to have mellowed since his first term as mayor.

OTOH, that doesn't disqualify him from being good and decent in some settings, and I do think he's changed a bit over the years.

Politics is about perception and politicians, these days, are managed by media advisers.
I know which version of Banks I consider closer to the real man and it ain't the "New Improved" version. Of course, there is the possibility that he has learned "how to do the job properly" but, you know, leopards, spots etc.

I wonder if this includes breastfeeding ?

But of course, why else would God have given us "Formula"?

  • Busytown: The shakes,

Something not quite right in that arithmetic there Sofie. Southerly might say it per units of atomic bombs, which I'm looking forward to.

A rule of thumb equivalence from seismology used in the study of nuclear proliferation asserts that a one kiloton nuclear explosion creates a seismic signal with a magnitude of approximately 4.0. This in turn leads to the equation

    Mn = 2/3log10 mTNT/Mt +6

where mTNT is the mass of the explosive TNT that is quoted for comparison (relative to megatons Mt).

So, what's that in Elephants farts?.

    For the Technophiles out there...
    These are the puppies responsible
    Hanmer strike-slip basin, Hope fault
implications of late Pleistocene valley fill in the Hope Valley
And this is how it works...
    Strike-slip tectonics

This is really old stuff, goes back to Gondwanaland, I'm wondering if the current crop of quakes is the settling of deep alluvial deposits, due to water extraction, or the fault itself.
If we have a "Resident" Geologist, any clues yet?
