Craig: Yeah, that episode was pretty weird too. They kind of went through a string of them -- Starbuck's battles with Scar were not particularly well-judged either.
That said, I thought the black market episode, even though it was completely out of the blue character-wise, tackled a really interesting aspect of the society that would develop in a situation like that. The main draw of Battlestar Galactica for me (so far, I'm just at the end of season 2) is the way in which they explore the balance between the military and civilian aspects of the fleet in the context of scarcity and a need for militarism. The black market was an interesting aspect of that, even if the episode itself didn't work so well.

And there's one second season episode that Moore just shreds
Was that the one with Lee floating around in space? That episode was lamé.
And for my money the extended versions of LOTR improved the films considerably. Especially the first one -- the theatrical release just didn't make all the much sense.

Which is to say that if the events of September 2008 made a noise, it would have had tees and zeds together.

And besides, if we are going to name it after a Jewish food, I think the blintz has a certain onomatopoeic quality.
-
Naming the melt-down of American financial institutions after an ethnic Jewish foodstuff might be taken the wrong way in some quarters. And besides, the George née Global Economic Crisis doesn't taste delicious with salmon and cream cheese.

Whole should be Hole. Obviously.

Omar bin Laden needs to get himself an agent. He's a shoo-in for a supporting role in Matrix: Resuscitated.

Having heeded Craig's repeated exhortations to get over it and look on the bright side, I was about to note on the other thread that, finally, it will be us calling hypocrisy at every turn and holding the government up to impossibly high standards, knowing full well that that the realities of being in government require compromise and occasionally flat out bad behaviour. Finally we could tally up an endless list of petty 'scandals', invariably with a '-gate' suffix, to rub in the faces of government supporters. Finally, it would be our turn to scoff and mock, rather than half-heartedly defend the actions of those whose policies we broadly (though so rarely entirely) support, but whose actions in the real world so rarely live up to even modest ethical standards.
I just didn't realise it would only take three days for it to kick in.

I agree with Craig. Wishart isn't going to be too soft on National. He can always been relied on to speak wild-eyed hallucinations to power.
