Well there you go then. The United States elect an African American president, and the vagaries of the interpolation of foreign words into a language built on shameless appropriation means that we are all correct. What a day to be alive.
While we are diverted by a discussion of succinct words in foreign languages, I share 'Mamihlapinatapai' with you all, in the hope that it catches on.

Again, I have to be pedantic and point out that it's about finding solace in the mysery of FRIENDS, not Limbaughs.
Are you sure about that? I've looked around a little bit and all I get is 'malicious joy'. No sign of friends in the various dictionaries and other sources I've looked at. Of course I don't read German, so I'm happy to be proved wrong.

Giovanni: Limbaugh has declared McCain as much the enemy as Obama. Going by the enemy of my enemy logic, especially when routed through McCain's 'my friends' catch phrase, I feel entitled to use the loanword.
Especially now that Hannity is on. He appears to want to dissolve the Republican party. That'll help.

LOL. Fortunately we've read enough of your colourful prose to be able to fill in the blank ourselves.
Whoever is betting on a Palin 2012 bid will be pleased to hear that, at least today, the radio conservatives' answer is that they weren't conservative enough. They'll be spending some time in the political wilderness, then. I'm sure there are plenty of moose for them to hunt while they're there.

Steve: Not yet. Not by a long shot.
If anyone really feels like schadenfreuding it up, I would recommend tracking down a live feed of some conservative radio. I spent the afternoon listening to Rush Limbaugh -- poor guy just doesn't know what to do with himself.

I think you'll find "Hadouken!!" or "Perfect" would have been more appropriate, Samf.

Obama. Ohio. Oh hell. It's good news anyway, no matter how badly I type it.

Ohio went for Ohio. Damn.

Giovanni:
Kentucky has variable closing times in its polling booths I think. A time zone runs through it. So they can't call it before Western Kentucky closes, even if they count the vote.

If you want something to do at work, you could always listen to WAMJ for an African-American perspective on polling day (if it will play on NZ IP addresses).
A young woman just said that her friend in Louisiana got told that his vote was only worth 5 points, and he should come back to vote at 8PM (when the polls close).
