So, the “Hales connection” seems to be only a coincidence, and Burrow does not serve at Waitakere, as has also been alleged in places.
So presuming the details of the officer's son issue are true (which, given past form, we probably can't, but...), there isn't actually an overarching *reason* for them to ignore the girls' complaints? Just common-or-garden "how short was your skirt?" bullshit?
That doesn't make me feel much better, to be honest. :/

Yes! So true.
This is one of the songs that makes me feel great about romantic relationships, and so I think it’s a good song for this week, especially. A song about people who are together, being equals, liking each other (and, uh, smoking). I find it really moving.
(Edited to remove "heterosexual" because, actually, this could be about any couple. But it seems extra relevant to male/female now because, y'know, fraughtness this week.)

Is it... is it trying to say that they aren't "emerging well" because they're traumatised? Because that's the only charitable interpretation, but it's *really* badly written. OTOH, if it's saying what it kinda sorta sounds like it's saying... I can't even.

I actually AM a fan of quotas, but I think the discussion of more women in the police force has a “let’s get women in here to fix the ladyproblems!” undertone, when what we should really be thinking about is fixing the crappy-at-dealing-with-sexual-assault police culture (which is mostly male but not always) at its source.
