Oh, goody. Goat blood all through the carpet and runic gibberish daubed in spunk on the walls. Can I have one of those well-behaved vastly profitable cults celebrities join instead?

  • Hard News: Again: Is everyone okay?, in reply to Greg Dawson,

Holy sh*t. That is the utmost in class.
I am raging like a Ranapia.

Greg: When the link to that disgusting thing found its way into my Twitter feed this morning, I had two reactions.

    1) "Frak you you fraking parasite scum."

    and

    2) "God loves everyone; I'm still working on it."

After the recording this avo, I dropped in at St. Patrick's Cathedral for some quiet time and came to the conclusion that my nervous energy was better spent in prayer for the eternal rest of the souls of the dead, the relief of all those who suffer in body and spirit, and eternal blessings on those who have acted with courage and grace.

  • Up Front: Ups and Downs. And Side-to-Sides., in reply to BenWilson,

I've thought about that many times since, and I don't think it was him being cold.

No it wasn't. I caught part of Enoch Powell's interview with Parkie on a monitor in Marbeck's this avo, and he said something chilling yet enormously moving: That until very late in the war, he never expected to survive. Five or six years living like that, a rather grim sense of gallows humours and a genius for disassociation would be the least you'd have to do to remain sane I suspect. Especially when you were in a position where losing your shit could be quite literally a matter of life or death.

And how can you be called a marshmallow

I think Emma knows I was taking the piss, because "coo, you're fucking awesome" is not how I usually roll. :)

As for Haywood, he’ll only accept if you tell him it comes with hug-repellant.

I’ll happily by-pass Haywood and indroduce wee-Bob to the Cuddle Monster. (Yeah, I know that sounds icky but screw it.) Emma also has first dibs on my supply of bum-pinching, boob admiration and general gropeage. Sorry, David and Jen - you're top of the wait list.

Still crying, on and off. Reputation for staunchness possibly fucked forever.

Yup - you big sack of marshmallow, you. :) Now, gather the clan and get your fucking arses up here for more cuddling and and random filth than you can handle.

  • Hard News: Again: Is everyone okay?, in reply to Stephen Judd,

I think a ‘please explain’ note to my Councillors and Member of Parliament is in the offing. Thanks for bringing that to my attention, Stephen, because I’ve been skimming over stories about the PGG building -- reading them is just picking a raw scab.for no good reason.

  • Muse: OPEN THREAD: Voices from Christchurch,

Just heard from Hamish Keith that delicious old luvvie -- *cough* iconic theatre figure -- Elric Hooper is "okay but his house is not in good shape".

    Good news.

Sorry for harshing the warm glow, but over at Pundit, Andrew Geddis powns No Right Turn on the national state of emergency.

Shorter Geddis: It’s not the Ermächtigungsgesetz in concern-troll drag so chill the fuck out and get to grips with what the Civil Defence Emergency Management Act actually says.

I/S’s posts regrettably are bullshit. I rather fear that he’s fallen victim to exactly the disease he accuses John Key and National of … being so partisan in outlook that everything must have a motive other than the obvious one.

Sometimes even politicians just want to do the right thing.

    Ouch.

  • Hard News: Again: Is everyone okay?, in reply to Che Tibby,

in other news, the MSM seems to be turning ghoulish. what, the death toll not high enough for you yet?

It might just be me, but I’m detecting escalating levels of asperity in the voices of people who are explaining one more time why they’re not going to speculate on the death toll or missing numbers. Seriously, I know the media have a job to do – and for the most part are doing it damn well – but really…

Of course, these are the same people who'd be demanding a public flogging if a body was misidentified (or, even worse, a family was told someone was dead when they weren't) or a substantially inaccurate missing list was released.
