I particularly like the photo of Rich 'n' Rog - fabulous composition, and it really captures a moment between the two. Nice one, Tom!

That photo of the Able Tasmans is so so beautiful.

But that would disable discussion on thousands of topics, the vast majority of which have nothing to do with the election.
I wonder if the Electoral Commission's advice is based around the misconception that "blog = politics". If someone has a food blog, are they realistically going to get any comments on election day about politics? Not likely.
It really just comes down to Public Address Rule One: Don’t be a dick.
Hell yes. A few days ago, I saw a guy on Twitter talking about how he was going to use a proxy to tweet about his political party of choice and I just told him not to be a dick. Because doing that really is a dick move, and if you actually think it's going to sway voters, you're even more of a dick.
It's nice to have a day away from the barrage of political coverage, and it's also a fun challenge talking about stuff without saying too much.

I'm so excited to be involved with this! The template makes the photos look amazing at that size. Cheers to Public Address and Cactus Lab for getting it set up, and I'm really happy to be part of the PA whanau along with Jonathan and Jackson.

Duran Duran! They have a new song and it's quite good, but more importantly, it comes with a brilliant video. Directed by Jonas Ackerlund, it stars five '90s supermodels who play the band, complete with complex interviews (and actually quite good acting) about the band's history. It looks brilliant, and even has a bit of lesbionic action, if you're into that.

Speaker: Why Auckland, and New Zealand,…, in reply to
Wellington's trains used to end near where Te Papa is now. If it had stayed like that would have been easy to extend to airport. Short sighted solutions from earlier eras.
The space of the former train tracks was turned into roading!
The best idea for Wellington I've heard is the Green's, with a light rail track from the train station to the airport, as well as a loop into central Lower Hutt.

I don’t want to come down and be all “earthquake tourist”, and end up making it worse for you guys.
I'm going to Christchurch in early December for a few days, and I guess I'm going as an earthquake tourist. Or rather, it feels like I'm visiting a friend in hospital recovering from an accident. I miss Christchurch.

I'm going to Christchurch for a few days in early December. I've booked a seat on the Red Zone bus tour (and it's brilliant this has been offered to locals now), and it looks like I'll be able to see that film too. I miss Christchurch.

Speaker: Doing the right thing on retirement, in reply to
The problem will be solved by cracking down on solo Mums, the wanton whores!
That would have been so much more powerful without the insult. Even when intended as comedy, it's still awful :-(

There's an audible hum in the National video, probably coming through the PA system in the hall. I can't imagine this would be deliberate. As learned from the 48Hours film competition, bad pictures are forgivable, but bad sound is unforgivable. Whoever made this video ought to be ashamed of their work.
As for the Green video, I tensed up when it opened to the sound of an acoustic guitar accompanied by one of those egg percussion shaker things. Being Green is no excuse for bad music.
