Wave goodbye to
Belgium
Not to the piece of land between France, Germany and the Netherlands. -
Can any linguists out there coin a word for 'too lazy to google'?
I can't at this time of night, but there's a website to which I'm always too polite to refer people.

Is the most interesting thing about Palin that she doesn't really like Republicans very much?

And what's wrong with Belgium?
Well, it's kind of breaking up with itself at the moment. The Flemish have decided they don't like the Francophone Belgians, and it's looking more and more like there won't be a Belgium to move to in the next few years.
everyone in NZ with get up and go has got up and gone.
Ye Gods. No wonder they have to go overseas to campaign. Not that Rodney has shown up in Pittsburgh yet.

Wave goodbye to a
popular and competent
Prime Minister. Sigh. -
Personally, I find the way most of the major Republican commentators have greeted this -- hey, who cares, she's anti-abortion and she can hold a gun! -- yet another depressing example of the way those people have infantilised a political culture on which the rest of the world relies. It's really bullshit.
The days of the competent imperial managers are nearly over.
And I have already made enormous cultural capital with my undergraduate students simply by admitting that, yes, I have seen Flight of the Conchords. All the sophomore lasses seem to have posters of Brett and Jemaine in their dorm rooms. Truly, we are punching above our weight on the world folk-comedy-duo stage.

Looks like Slater already knows something about psychology. Though still very little about irony.

To be fair, almost every American from outside of the city will tell you that Pittsburgh is like nowhere else in the US.
They don't usually mean that in a good way. -
(I must admit if I was looking for the fastest man in the world I'd be looking at the orbit speeds of manned space missions).
Strictly speaking, I don't think those people are in the world.
