I have never been a great fan of the Iraq war. Howvere, I still think the outcomes of this war will need judged 10 years on. It's still too soon. But to believe that the New York Times would have anything positive to say about it is unbelievable anyway. The NYT has other agendas and could hardly be classed as neutral. As for Amnesty International..spare me.

Last week, when Russell mentioned John Key's sattement about wages, I thought I'd take a punt and email Mr Key about what was said/wasn't said. It sometimes helps to hear it from the horses mouth. I did post this reply last week, but here it is again:
My question: "a Northern Advocate reporter was quoting you saying' "We would love to see wages drop. The way we want to see wages increase is because productivity is greater. So people can afford more. Not just inflationary reasons, otherwise it's a bit of a vicious circle as it comes back to you in higher interest rates. We really want to drive that out." To put this one to bed in my mind, could you clarify what you meant here.
Answer from John Key: "The statement is simply not correct. I have been misreprted. The very next sentence they claim I said in a coffee shop in Kerikeri is how to make wages rise. The paper has no tape didn't ask any questions of me about the comment etc etc. Bottom line I came to politics to ensure wages conditions and opportunities for Kiwis go up- John"
Make of it what you will...

The move by Cullen at this late stage is a complete balls-up. Those who have shares in AIA should feel utterly betrayed. This may be a good decision for the country, on the whole, but to be so stupid as to leave it so late is bad management. If Cullen was my CFO, he would be gone by lunch-time.

I wonder how many people actually care about wikipedia. It's hardly definitive on anything. I mean every man and his dog can have a view and that makes it pretty hard to get to any form of truth. Does wikipedia even have the truth as it's mandate anyway?

You probably don't want to go through all the 'John Key' stuff again from yesterday, however, I just thought I'd get an answer from John Key on his 'wages' statement. His email response is:
"The statement is simply not correct. I have been misreported. The paper has no tape didn't ask any questions of me about the comment etc etc.....Bottom line I came to politics to ensure wages conditions and opportunities for Kiwis go up."

I don't think we should make too much of the Key statement. It appears he's trying to get his thoughts together before he speaks and is likely refering to the Australian situation. However, if true, it highlights a point that Lablour have so blood-minded, especially in social policy, in the past few years that the elecotrate may be ripe for the taking by just about anybody. It's similar in the US elections. Obama could just about say anything to some and get the nod.

I think you will find that, legally, a loan is classed as a donation, not just the interest part. However, it's all abit of a beat-up anyway!

Hmm... this is all abit much to take in. I see that on the FF website, that they are saying, "Family First has never commented on this case (although we are aware of the history of the family), and based on the facts reported, completely understand and support the verdict. We are pretty certain that Kiro has a case of 'mistaken identity' - but it does reveal her paranoia over our existence!"
But if your reference to Bob's interview on Radio Rhema is correct, then it seems his views and the organisation he controls are very different. Hmm again.
