  • Hard News: This is your public broadcasting,

its fascinating and exciting the multiple ways an artist/musician can choose to connect to their audience these days - albums / singles are slowly but surely becoming the past (for some) - digital and the online world isn't constrained by physical limits and its good to see making tracks reflect the changing market and at the same time broaden the funding base of the sorts of acts that are eligible and getting funding, the internet has no gate keepers like TV & Radio, nor key demographics and focused sounds that determine success

for some acts its a singles world - for others its whatever they choose

quite exciting where this will lead us I reckon - speaking as a major fan or pre-recorded music

  • Hard News: Fact and fantasy,

so who is going to make a complaint to The NZ Tourism Board to the Advertising Standards Authority?

For surely they've breached some code, if not of accuracy then of ethics

  • Hard News: Triangulated by Fools,

I think you're being too harsh and condescending with regards The Standard.

Its a daily stop off in my pursuit of stimulating reading, insightful commentary and left leaning vitriol and adds to the perspectives and opinions available to the moderately interested

  • OnPoint: The Source,

Kia Kaha Keith & Ira, sorry, (disgusted) to see the MSD and msm take the path that denigrates you rather than focus on the fact these systems aren't locked down and safe as they should be

this is a serious issue with lessons to be learnt, mistakes to be corrected and some accountability to be taken - not suggesting a witch hunt... as its simply not the norm for those who take responsibility to do so any more (for shame) but however this situation came about must be found and rectified so we don't have more of the same - preferably within the govt depts (so the knowledge and understanding is kept in house - ie learn from your mistakes) not outsourced

  • Hard News: Friday Music: Better Bit…, in reply to Russell Brown,

improved heaps - though as a warning to those checking it out, at least once since I've been using it their updated version rendered it next to useless... then next update its well good... - its by no means a solution to all problems, but like match it can do a lot of donkey work for a small(ish) cost that can make your digital life slightly better

  • Hard News: The Advocate,

much of Campbell Live stories I can do without, so much light crap.... but when he does proper newsie stuff I applaud him, his team and the channel - the lunch boxes and CHCH schools being two fine (recent) examples

Given the "its poor peoples fault" default of so much of our media, of late, it was nice to see someone just give a shit for the kids - and get a heap of cash towards and very worthy cause to boot, hats off to them for that

The ting that sets Campbell out from most if not all his peers - he comes across as someone who genuinely cares... not just reads whatever is on the prompter whilst dreaming of what cafe he'll tweet about next

  • Hard News: Friday Music: Better Bit…, in reply to Moz,

have you tried Tuneup (paid for product)?

    http://www.tuneupmedia.com/

I used to use this heaps when I was on a mission to sort all my MP3s… not perfect by any means (especially for local fare, obviously)

I managed to get thorough several thousand files before I got bored and move onto my default of not really caring as long as I can find the song I want to hear (bit rate be damned)
