As someone else has probably pointed out, a postcard-sized hole on a good length would be bloody disastrous.
Add in a few thin lengths of exposed concrete to represent the access roads, and occasional piles of rubble and dirt a bit further out for players to trip over. Good times!

sorry, payment required for access
Never mind, I found an unlocked full-length version for you.

it used to be $15 before they got rid of Vanda Vitelli, I thought she was cool

Yeah but nah. That lane becomes parking at 6.00pm, well, in Kingsland anyway.
Sorry for editing that angrypost out prior to your response - although IMO nothing of value was lost... :)
To clarify, I meant a particular point on New North Road going east, by the Dominion Road underpass, where the cyclelane goes straight across the mouth of a turnoff that leads to Ian McKinnon Drive. Because it's not a sharp turn, cars often gradually drift across the cyclelane at 50k or so - without watching for cyclists who have the right of way in the cyclelane before turning...

it should be approached with the same caution, and a higher duty of care to others.
Not sure if this is referring to cycling or driving...? I would expect that anyone using a public road ought to strive for the highest possible care for others, regardless of their mode of transport or the degree of damage they could potentially inflict upon other road users.

It feels consciousness-expanding to me, and I think that is quite literally true, apparently the vision of drivers improves dramatically, particularly peripheral vision. Road-sense is entering a much larger world, in which my thoughts rove up to 15 seconds ahead, seeing things that the non-drivers would not care to even look for, minor pressure changes in the traffic a long way ahead, the attitude of the drivers all around me, evidenced by the subtle nuances of their car body language.
Yes! Definitely. And much the same holds true for cycling as well (although with the latter in Auckland you tend to go from expanded-consciousness to hypervigilance after a while).

I remember reading about the Ploughshares in The Common Good, at the back of Point Chevalier's Catholic church (St Francis & Therese). It stood out quite sharply from the other literature, what with its broader social focus and thoughtful articles about 'taking the preferential option for the poor'.
Of course as a youngish boy I mostly read it for the dramatic protest stories - there were regular letters written from prison by people who had (for instance) broken onto strategic air bases in California with hammers and buckets of blood, to smear and dent up missiles that were suspended beneath jet bombers.
This was of course before 9/11, when it was merely very surprising that these guys did not get shot as soon as they passed the perimeter - these days I think it would be a certainty.
Now I wonder how many at Kiwiblog and YV understood the sickles as a reference to the Peaceable Kingdom as opposed to the more obvious? Just kidding, I really don't think I want to know.

This looks like it could be rather good.

A found otter?
Haha, the wonders of Google. Gio was in fact referring to my barely-a-pseudonym which isn't in effect on the Listener website...

Just as well, otherwise you'd be outed.
As a what now? (Sorry, Monday afternoon brainmush...)
