Someone commented that he’d already decided not to lay an official complaint and presuming that was a free and informed decision on his part, I hope everyone would respect that.
True, and I understand the kinds of pressure Arie must be under on this matter. It needn't be about him, or be presented as concerning a "disposable minority".
However, there has been a recently well-publicised report on how well the police are responding to Dame Bazley's inquiry - and that is very badly indeed. Both Howard Broad and Greg O'Connor have both been defensive and dismissive - the former blandly, the latter complaining on Morning Report that the police have too much real work to do to worry about secondary issues like their conduct, silly little things like rape, sexism, assault and so on. He just painted a big target on himself there, but Phil Goff took aim at his own foot.

Nope, that doesn’t wash. Sorry. What you do for family, friends, strangers even… what you do because you think you must do because you must because there’s no alternative. I’ve read the biographies of plenty of heroes. OK, so you weren’t dodging bullets, but nonetheless, that’s the essence of heroism.
