Incidentally, I got a bit annoyed (enough to tweet it) at Ian Smith
If I tweeted everytime Ian Smith annoyed me, I wouldn't get to watch the game. He shits me at an astonishingly high level.
My enduring memory of the early 1980s was overhearing my Nana calling Paddles "that selfish prick of a man".
This has made my day.

So stoked for Styris, he is a true pro, coming in to the team at the last minute, batting further down the order than he's used to, winding up the Aussies and bringing us home. Can't ask for much more. Let's hope they keep him in there.
Also v impressed with Tuffey and Bond's batting, they didn't seem phased by the situation at all, and played some really nice shots.
I was so excited I had to go make a silly joke.

I took one look at the Train queue after the 3rd Lions test @ Eden Park and walked into town. It took a long time, and was quite scary sometimes.

@stephen and @webweaver: your costume for next year

I went a couple of years ago - I'm a big believer that sport = fun, and while the sevens isn't really about sport, it is definitely about fun.
I wouldn't want to go every year, being the old man that I am, but you've got to go once - if you like people watching, this is pretty much the Champion's League.

The Flying Scotsman is a goody

Here's the North Shore cycling hotspots map - all kinds of things are noted, like bike shops, cafes and slippery surfaces on the road

Can I link whore? ta.
WTF was going on with the TV coverage? We may bitch and moan about Nisbo and Mexted, but technically, our camera work is awesome.
Or maybe I just think about it too much.

I did enjoy this test.
The thing that gets me, though, is that we were playing this run-it-from-anywhere game all year and the pundits were all "we need to play a kicking game, like South Africa".
Ok, the execution was a bit shit, but still, it was the same game plan.
What do we think the AB coaching line-up will be for next year?

Where is NZ ranked in the world?
How low is that hurdle?
When Namibia qualified for the last Rugby World Cup and the Namibian know-all Football fans went on the local sport forum to sneer at how they'd be cleaned up by South Africa or the All Blacks, I hope another Namibian sports fan who just loved seeing their country men and women go crazy-ape-bat shit celebrating a special achievement said what I'm going to say to you:
Cheer the fuck up. It's fun being a minnow.
Compare the almost Latin levels of excitement in Wellington last night with the dour 'support' we give our national Rugby team. I want to see more of That Kind Of Thing. I just hope we we can get this small-mindedness about our place in Football's global pecking order out of our system now, and get on with the excitement of being at the frickin' world cup finals.
Mmmm I want one of these now.
