  • Hard News: Deja Vu,

The scene where (Holmes) sat weeping angrily over harm minimisation advice in some CADS literature was not only dishonest

Auckland CADS are good people. Holmes is off his tree dissing them. He may be a nice bloke, but some klepto should nick off with his ego. The righteous dwarf needs bringing down to earth.

I saw a bit of Holmes' P show, the bit at the fundraising dinner with all the stern and earnest patrons in black ties sipping wine. I lasted all of thirty seconds before switching it off.

I'd rather put my trust in CADS than the penguins.

  • Up Front: Because You Should Know,

Am interested in the Ombudsmen decision. There's no good reason the DIA can't release some obtuse breakdown of decisions. For example, list the clause/s that triggered the banning of the 7000 URLs.

  • Hard News: Another entry in the Public…,

First heard of catheters from a flattie at the time, Bob the Roo, who had one stuck up him for an STD check. He fainted as it entered through the out hole, so to speak. Best excuse for condoms I ever heard.

As for third world service, a mate was travelling in Africa with his missus and his brother-in-law. Bro-law gets something viral or some stuff. Hospital was so backwater, travel insurance support was non-existent, cash now or he dies. Bro-law lived after large hard currency transaction. THAT'S Third World. Or the US.

All the best for a speedy and painless recovery, Russell.

  • Hard News: Ups and Downs,

Have you googled it? Cos the googles suggest its in widespread use in the English-speaking world.

Now I have googled it. Damnit, the word is so derivative, it's even appeared in Harry Potter. Ah well, we'll always have pavlova and kiwifruit.

  • Hard News: Ups and Downs,

    Really? It's ours? I'm stoked.

Yep, it's as Kiwi as pavlova or kiwifruit. Nah, seriously, it's not in any dictionary I can find. Dibs it's ours.

Is had,v an actual word? if not why not?

I was just going to reply on exactly that point, steven. Kiwis also invented the word I'd've (pronounced eye-div or eye-dov), a particularly ugly word on paper, but a useful one.

Moore Wilsons is also the cheapest place in Wellington to buy Lego.

    I hope it's not bootLego, Jack. </boom boom>

  • Hard News: The Social Retail,

I'm an Aucklander with a Moore Wilson wholesale card, and I'd dearly love that company to open a branch here.

I often thought the same, Russell. That huge empty warehouse section on the south-west corner of Wellesley St West and Nelson St would be ideal. Close enough to Ponsonby, yet central enough for the CBD commuters and dwellers, just like the Wellington centre.
