I wonder. Was this done under re placement insurance?

I think this practically untold story on the furlough "mutiny" is even more impressive.

  • Hard News: War, now and then, in reply to John Madden,

This was shaping up to be the nightmare that my Dad endured and I thought I had escaped. Hadn't allowed for American stupidity and Muldoon insecurity.

    Hmmmmm.....Muldoon? Vietnam?

Me thinks it was Pahaiatua's very own Kiwi Keith who got us into that melee with the shake of the hand of POTUS Johnson as he offered Noo Zeeeland double the beef quota to the US of A.

Ahh the sweet smell of overseas funds and napalm in the morning.

  • Southerly: Coming Up For Air,

I have just finished a weekend and a day of watching a few Titanic docos. The last one was about the body recovery and identifying the bodies. I have to say I am having great difficulty in distinguishing between the actions of the White Star Line to their employees and passengers, and Brownlies and Nationals bullshit. It was obvious from the start once compensation was deing decided that the demand side was going to overpower the supply side and from day one they have made sure their property mates are being well compensated.

There should have been freezes put on rents and property selling prices for at least three years from day one wwithin 50km of the Square. And to keep it even it should have been at the 2007 rateable values. But fairness???

    Arseholes.

  • Hard News: Belief Media,

Bait: It's going to be a good white...

I use the mirror to remind me about the benefit of a few old bastards remaining employed in organisations. The loss/lack of corporate memory means the same mistakes keep getting made. I see it in sports organisations as well. The oldies know what happened in the last four year cycle and the new managers who come in to manage the next one - "going forward" - immediately impose change the way they want it. Why something happened or was done is lost in the mist of time and then when one explains the why the, (il)logic of their intentions hits them. But if they are stubborn they will ignore it and go ahead anyway. ....and so you sigh and move on.
