Who did the music for this forgotten gem of a movie which uses Martin Luther Kings death as a leaping off point. The picture quality is shite but in most other aspects it rises above blaxploitation effortlessly

why does this culture still exist?
Because we allow it to continue to exist, and some/a lot are resistant to change.
I remember 60's/70's NZ, it was a culture awash in all kinds of sexism and many of other isms not conducive to a healthy respectful society. Me and a small group of friends at the time just put up with it but it was overwhelmingly the norm, and hoped it would change in time.While it doesnt seem to have, tho I personally think something has changed. It is easier to raise objections to such behaviour and not be demonised but the behaviour is still there, and its easy to backslide, just ask Steven Joyce. Yeah that was a joke haha! or is he the joke?
When we have a culture where our means of communicating, (the spoken word is used by corporations and their paid minions ad agencies/ radio stations, sports persons), is encumbered with unspoken baggage to sell product it keeps us locked into modes of thinking that we really should move past. We wont get anywhere apart from a cyclical repeating of patterns of behaviour.

Lessons which are easily backgrounded now that it is obvious there is no supreme being that gives a toss about us, so a lot just think, screw being part of something bigger I want mine.

Well we’re bipedal clothes wearing apes, who thinks rather highly of itself (because of our collective insecurities) destructive to its environment in large numbers, like any creature. Our specialness is a figment of our imagination. Time we let that fiction go.
Purpose should unite people not divide them. -

Well no, that has to be addressed by other means.Like a living wage, not insidiously forcing everyone to become some kind of entrepreneur.
And showing some respect and paying well those who are willing to turn up everyday to do a repetitive task, which employment is. Especially in the so called "unskilled" jobs.It is something that we’re stuck with now because our “societies” have become an overwhelmingly dominant part of our lives (as well as causing massive destruction to the planet) Few have a choice in the matter.
