  • Hard News: Onwards and upwards,

You know.... when thinking about Henry's moustache comments, and comparing them to Holmes' "cheeky darkie" or Veitch's ape comments..... at least they could maybe excused as spur of the moment brain-farts ? ( I know I've had a few myself)..

But Paul Henry had plenty of time to digest what he was going to say.... plenty of people both physically in front of him and in his ear-piece suggesting it was a less than good idea... he even asked himself would he or would he not repeat the comments..... before he went right ahead.... he has NO excuse.

Note to the producer's of the breakfast show:

    1) if you dont think the 'feedback' is suitable for reading out on air, dont provide it on paper to the presenter, and then tell them in their ear-piece not to read it.

I dont want to excuse that Dick for what he said.... but if you dont want dickish-decisions made on air.... dont provide the dick with the ability to make that decision.

I hope he has to make an on-air apology..... its all the way down there with Holmes' "cheeky little.... " comment.

Craig, While I agree both of them could say I'll be interviewed on Breakfast, but not by XYZ. if they chose to..... they'd be immediately shot down as Muldoonist power-wielding freaks (or similar).

  • OnPoint: Being a dick about Earth Hour,

"I don't particularly like the light given off by CFL's but word has it that they will be available in different colours soon"

Soon has been and gone... available now.

When I was in CFL buying mode about 18 months ago..... Mitre-10's home brand called "Basix" had in-store demonstrations of their two available colours.... cold white (brighter, blue-ish) and warm white (slightly dimmer, yellow). They were about $2.50 from memory?

I have over 20 CFLs in our house.... Some are the "quality" ecobulbs, some are Basix from mitre-10, some are RED from the warehouse, and some are Philips..... I've had one fail as in stop making light... but four of them from 3 different brands have had one of the bayonet mounting pins fall out, so they dont sit in the bulb-holder properly... I find this strange because its the same mechanical design as the incandescents I've been using for my whole life and have never had this type of failure before.

In the case of one RED bulb, the pin was missing from new... the Warehouse exchanged it without issue. I havent tried to get refunds/exchanges on the ones that worked for a while then fell out...

O, is Poneke's site now permanantly behind a Wordpress log-in? Pity.

It happened a month or two back as well... usually gets fixed in a day or 3.... no idea if it's a wordpress issue of if Poneke is in-expert at twiddling the options? There was no mention of it from Poneke last time it got fixed... it just worked again.

I too, hope it is not permanent.

  • Speaker: Memorandum To: Citizens of NZ,

I'm not aware of any law that allows us to lock anyone away in jail for the rest of their natural life.

I think the closest we have is Preventative Detention..... which has no term, and is until the offender stops being a risk to society... which is periodically re-assessed, and could conceivably be until death.... although I suspect most will assessed as no longer being a risk when they become physically infirm through age?
