*coff* OSX has cutie login icons. N00b.
I stand admonished.
I guess you can probably get them on Linux if you load the ThrustWombat 5.108 build, edit and recompile the kernel reversement module, install Nigel's Window Manager and repurpose the graphics into VRML.

Geek couple commitment?
No truly geek couple would use XP, especially without a domain controller (the icons, user switch and other cutie stuff only appear in that case).

dressing up as terrorists
Surely a real terrorist, as opposed to a comedy one, would dress as inconspicuously as possible so as to remain undetected while carrying out their dastardly deeds?

Gmail on your own domain?
I don't really see any point having a domain for personal use. They have a couple of downsides - anyone who wants can look your contact details up on whois, and they attract spam. Especially one-off, human generated spam that the spam filter can't block.
I guess I'm taking a risk that Google stuff up. However, we might be only a few years away from some sort of all-pervading social networking identity thing that obsoletes the old-fashioned email address.
Theresa Gattung left Paul Reynolds a real stinker.
One of many. Remind me again why she was considered such a business genius?

Can someone tell me this - what parts of Telecom, other than sales and marketing, aren't outsourced?
GenI - coz it's a Telecom owned outsourcing (anong other things) company.
With the Xtra deal, I assume that Yahoo pays Telecom to be set up as the default portal for their customers?

I had a personal domain and switched to gmail.
I now have two gmail accounts (social and non-work business) which works well except that gmail doesn't allow me to login to both at once. I really don't see why anyone would use anything else. It's even quite classy to use a gmail account - I think some people still believe it's invite only?
But then, I have a home page of about:blank in my browser.

I notice this morning that a complaint has been filed against the Dom Post for contempt of court.
If any lawyers are still reading, I just had a look at part 11a of the Crimes Act which deals with interception evidence and it includes:
- section 312J which requires the destruction of intercept evidence when charges are no longer being proceeded with - I'm not sure if this applies to terrorism offences, though.
- section 312K prohibits the disclosure of intercept evidence outside a person's official duty. This only carries a $500 fine but it certainly appears to have been breached in this case.
I wonder if charges could be brought under 312K (and indeed, if the police have failed in their duty under 312J to call in and destroy the intercepts).

Hey David: unless you have some exotic 10G network, Cat5E works just as well as Cat6 and they have the cables in $2 stores for $2.
(K Rd, anyway) -
Now that NZ is just another police state like the US and UK it means I can probably stop my half-hearted avoidance of US/UK products.
So I guess I can buy that Jeep Wrangler I had my eye on with a good conscience.
I'm still ripping off Sony-label music and videos rather than buying until the Japanese stop killing whales though.

Why on earth would you use your ISP provided email address for *anything*.
You're locking yourself into the ISP if you do that (not to mention that you often can't send mail when not connected via the ISP).
