Very interesting interview with Dan Carter (lifted from the Daily Mail!), especially the parts about focus. And also why he kicked his last ever test goal with his right foot ...
I particularly liked
'That's what I love about rugby. Working alongside your mates, the sacrifice they put in that motivates you to do the same. Never letting anyone down - it's such a powerful bond that you get and to sit in a changing room afterwards when you've all gone to war, look your mate in the eye and be proud. There's no feeling like it.

The All Blacks have won everything at the World Rugby Awards – with the exception of coach of the year, which went to Michael Cheika. Fair enough, really – he's done wonders with that team in a year.
I think he deserved it. He has worked wonders with Deans' leftovers. Now he needs to be a little more gracious in the post-match interview - it's not just the players who are supposed to be professional. Stephen Moore (who I've never had much time for but now do) pissed all over him.

This is a really important question: Why?
It's a tough question, but the basic answer is: power and responsibility. The power imbalance between a child and an adult is much greater than between a child and an older child. Abuse is abuse, no argument, but a supposedly mature adult is more responsible for their own behaviour than a child or teen, at least under the law. This is why we don't (usually) try children as adults for similar offenses (burglary, arson and the like). We put them through a different process ( Youth Court for example, and Family Conferences). Only really egregious offending (e.g. murder) would usually meet the criteria for adult prosecution of a minor. We accept that children make mistakes and that there are better ways to teach appropriate behaviour.
Unfortunately for the victim, this makes little difference to their recovery.

Oh, Anke, I was just glad to be able to help. And of course that was the hardest thing - that it wasn't about EVIL.
Evil is never evil, when it looks in the mirror. You have been looking into these people's mirrors.

Now that the Supreme Court says computer files can be property, the reason that police have given for abandoning their investigation into Nicky has gone.
Interesting. The way that reads is that the District and Supreme Courts found it was property mainly because Dixon deleted the video file on the desktop after copying it. Therefore, Base no longer had a copy of a file that should have remained in their possession (which is the whole basis for an argument of theft). If he had only copied it, the outcome might have been different for him.

That Jonathan Bree clip is quite wonderful. We must find more ways to show off the wonderful eyebrows of Hamish MacEwan.
