I don't do a lot of hugging, except with family and my Best Beloved, because I'm atrocious at reading the social cues. I also know a fair few women who aren't too pleased at unasked-for intimacy of this type and, as my memory is shot to hell from M.E., I can never remember which ones are okay with it and which are not. So I tend to go for a handshake and a head nod, not from any "man alone" inheritance but purely from not wanting to upset anyone.
On the man-to-man thing, there's also the fact that I'm part of the Whirlwind trust where sometimes a man is just too fragile to do the hug thing.
3 things I do take from this post, though:
1. The silky skills of David Kirk and Sid Going at halfback,
2. The god in the #7 jersey that was Kel Tremain, and
3. How much video has improved. -
Have you seen Disco/Graph?
Are we to take from that graph that Doug Hood doesn't play well with others?
Roll on the death of copyright as we know it.
It may come as a surprise, to those who remember the Scottish Thread, that I don't agree with this, except the "as we know it" part. It's broken and the "fixes" that vested parties produce are only making matters worse. The basic concept of copyright is a good one - that others are prevented from copying an original work without permission (or payment - not always the same thing) for a limited time. The various industries have pushed/are pushing the "limited time" aspect beyond reason. The agglomeration of copyright, trademarks and patents into a beast called "intellectual property" has worsened the situation, not bettered it.

Hard News: About Chris Brown, in reply to
Far out. The Chopper Read who visited New Zealand was comedian Heath Franklin playing the part of Chopper Read.
And the West Memphis Three were, y’know, innocent.
No-one said Willie was bright.

Do more with less is the new normal.
This mantra is not specific to this particular Government, though it is a National theme. The Bolger/Shipley fandango during the 90's destruction of the public sector also used it on a daily basis.
And Brian Rudman was told his job was being disestablished because “there is no longer any requirement for Auckland commentary”.
WTActualF?? Like Rudman only commented on Auckland issues?

All caveats above given, I’ll be up in the small hours tomorrow with both my boys, watching Fiji beating the shit out of England :-)
And why wouldn't you? (though I may record it and watch it a little later ;-) )

Story just did a puff piece promoting National Party spin doctor Bill Ralston as a candidate for the Auckland City Council next year. Had a whole lot of stupid clichés about council spending across NZ worthy of the ACT party (but only in towns where the mayor is mildly left wing). Political agenda definitely showing.
Cameron Brewer has been pushing the same line #usualsuspects

Perhaps we can just agree on Fuck John Key?
Not even with yours.

I doubt the Herald will be keeping Peter Lyons on for long, either...
