  • Island Life: Rage against the machines,

How about something that uses NZ's comparative advantage? Say tying the server to some sort of harness and attaching said harness to a dairy cow/horse/etc for a couple of days. You could then make some sort of witty caption about turning servers into plowshares

  • Hard News: Episode One,

So I had a brief look on Youtube for "Media 7" and the results were interesting, if not useful. I now know more about "Southron Liberation" than I ever should have

This will all be an unpleasant memory when you are both sitting proudly in the audience as your son competes in the Golden Guitars, 15-20 years from now.

Didn't the Vodafone/Orcon lurkers outline their backhaul plans in a similar thread a few weeks back? Perhaps they could be convinced to post detailed lists/maps of where this capacity is going.

Your only real hope of getting good advice in a regular consumer electronics store is to find one that has low staff attrition, if you can. At least that way you mind find a staff member who knows anything. However the standard model seems to be process an endless chain of young people who move on too quickly to develop any real depth of knowledge, so good luck

I love those old speeches. Let us hope that someone, somewhere is saving all the podcasts that are getting produced at present. Sure a lot of them are terrible vanity pieces but they are still a good indication of what people/culture were like in the 00z.

  • Hard News: Misquote Unquote,

I understand Nepal has been in a much better state this last 12 months or so as the previous regime (the king) had effectively given up and the country had agreed to reach a settlement with the Maoist revolt. I understand it isn't peachy there, but it apparently has improved (sort of)

I think we can all agree that large countries don't play by the rules that we hold, or try to hold for smaller countries, depressing as that is. Anyway, here is a mildly relevant podcast by Gorbachev's press advisor/spokesman on the collapse of the Soviet Union.
