One post 9/11 I would recommend, which I was just reminded is based in Lahore Pakistan, was The Reluctant Fundamentalist by Mohsin Hamid. My recollection is that it was subtle and thought provoking, and raised many questions about identity and patriotism.
I haven’t read Extremely loud and incredibly close, but it’s in the pile already.

In one of the reports they mentioned the successor, Ayman al Zawahiri, in the same breath as commenting on the $25 million dollar 'bounty' for his capture, presumably also 'dead or alive'.

This particular 'wild west' approach to the global terrorist hunt comes with it's own FAQs, through the 'Rewards for Justice' website.
In case anyone wondered, although I'm sure it has been covered before or is obvious;
However, under the law that governs the program, U.S., state, local, and foreign government employees are generally not eligible for a reward if they provide information obtained in the performance of their official duties.
And I think to myself 'what a wonderful world'؟

The Rewards for Justice program has paid more than $100 million to over 60 people who provided information that prevented international terrorist attacks or helped bring to justice those involved in prior acts.
Wow! Just wow!
Excuse my sarcastic tone. It just doesn't really sit well with me this particular 'policy' initiative.

The correspondent's dinner speech has also gone viral. And while the timing of it in the context of the Bin Laden situation seems a little chilling, he certainly seemed to come up trumps.

Wow! That's is so pertinent and lovely. Our twins were born 6 months later, and at the time, knowing they were on the way, we thought 'what sort of world are we bringing these innocent souls into?'
I can't comment on the 'justice' or bigger geopolitical implications any more, as it does my head in, but this is the world our children were born into, and we have some serious work to do. If only to help them understand, and perhaps help prevent it happening again.
