I don't understand their support. Trucks and other road users are not natural allies.
Especially not Driver Magazine editor Allan Dick. The RTF savaged him big time when he launched a campaign against bigger trucks on the roads.

I wouldn't go quite that far, AS. But we're not seeing a death match between Helen Stalin and John Hitler for who get to kick off the apocalypse. That would at least be amusing, in a creepy kind of way.

So Chicago school style free trade has gotten a thumbs up from the posters on NZ's preeminent leftie blog!! How times change!! Never would have been the case 20 or even 10 years ago, but this would seem to be evidence that the laws of economics prevail over time. Cause for optimism indeed!!
Nothing's what it seems when even John Pilger is calling for the dismantling of trade protectionism.

Another achievement to add to the list would be the trust-busting of the telco market.
Regarding Labour's potential new broom, Raymond Huo would be another worthy addition to Messrs Twyford & Robertson. Interesting how 3 Asian candidates (Huo, National's Pansy Wong, Act's Kenneth Wang) are running for the same seat (Botany). Even more interesting if all 3 were in Parliament at once.

The fundamental problem with CIR's is that they often reduce a grey issue into a simplistic yes/no answer. And the fear-industrial complex pervading certain elements of the MSM isn't helping.

Laws has some pretty twisted views about Africa. I happened to be listening to his April 1 show, and wasn't sure if what I was hearing was a lame April Fool's joke or just pure prejudice in action. He had a long rant about Africans (sweeping all Africans into the same boot) were incapbable of governance, were corrupt and so forth (I can't remember the details).
This was the exact same Michael Laws who, during the 1981 Tour, wrote a university thesis justifying the apartheid regime in South Africa.
I volunteer the guy who started that Asian crime-fighting group. He seems pretty eager to shoot someone.
The name Latasha Harlins comes to mind. We know what happened after that.
