Pendulum are a bit of an oddity actually - their first album (which most of the stuff they played at BDO was from) is pretty standard D&B fare, whereas their second album is like some strange kind of cross between Muse and Black Sabbath and it's only the persistent 'bass-bass-snare' drum lines would that barely qualify it as D&B at all. Worth checking out, actually, there are some excellent tracks on there.
Yeh, they're definitely heading to the dark side. Loved that Blood Sugar single as well, sort of like a mad D&B equivalent to Blur's Song 2.

But I love big dumb fun! Why did they make me stabby?
Just one of those things I guess, one person's BDF is another person's stabby and that's ok. Apparently some people find U2 quite uplifting while I just find it depressing. S'weird.

The thing about Pendulum and most drum & bass really, is that it's just big dumb fun, made for no other reason than to get off your tits and bounce around to. I've always liked that about pop music and my preferences will always fall on the dopey fun guys compared to the so called musical messiahs. I'd rather have Slade than Dylan, I prefer the Pistols to Joy Division etc... I don't particular like the machoism I feel at the more brutal end of d&b but I think Pendulum are great and would recommend the album Hold Your Colour as a simple joyous breakneck pop romp. My female 18 yr old cuzzies here in Nelson were most gutted about missing them and would've loved giving it large in that big crowd.
I'd also recommend High Contrast as highly listenable d&b, especially their remix work and the fact they've used the likes of Mike Skinner and Kanye West through to Stevie Nicks shows that they're all about the pop music.
And in terms of big arsed dance remixes, Justice are the other ones I'm listening to quite a bit of recently. Their version of 'Electric Feel' is quite astonishing.

Thus Pendulum, who made me want to beat them to death with their own keytar or whatever the hell they were playing...
Say it ain't so? They and TVotR were my biggest regrets for yet another Pete BDO no show. I heard that the TVotR sound mix was munged but Pendulum rocked arse?

Well that was a suitably crap way to end this drab one day series. DL may be a technically fair way of sorting out a shortened match result but it doesn't stop it being dull and vaguely ridiculous. To see the Windies go from time wasting between balls and overs while ahead to the Black Caps then doing the same as soon as they got their noses in front was not a particularly thrilling way to finish.
The frustrating thing is that every single match day has been fine and dry here in Nelson. NZ Cricket should chip in to getting a decent stadium here as the alternative venue for all matches.

Is it tempting fate to think that Martin Guptill looks like he might be a really good player?
Stuck here at work, every time cricinfo is slow to refresh I fear there's been a wicket! Must get home...

when I was a student in ChCh my flatmate (who worked nights in a restaurant) used to let her robe slowly slip until the mormons went away
How much slippage does it take to get rid of a Mormon? There's a joke in there somewhere...

Hell I find that about most albums I buy. I thought the first Clash album was good all the way through though....
Word up.

I just wish I could get into them, but they really don't do it for me.
Bits of their latest album I find jarring and a bit crap. Other bits I think are sublime. It's a funny mixed bag alright.

$40 for two Becks??? Holy moley, clearly my notorious night spots are not as notorious as yours!
Damn that Cary Grant and his love of secluded romantic Italian seaside villages!
