  • Hard News: Get yer avatars out,

eMusic remains my online music store of choice, plus Amplifier for the locals.

Exactamundo. Proof that if it's quick, easy and focused on their customers, they will come.

Although several times I've yelped at the availability of a much wanted new release on eMusic only to find the dreaded words 'This release is not available for download in your country' :(

What's wrong with my country? It's enough to drive a man to anonymisers.

  • Hard News: Get yer avatars out,

I love the way we can now draw, rather unashamably from whenever we want to create, and think most of the credit for that change comes from the worlds of hip-hop and electronic music. Technology and digital access just made it more accessible.

Yes, but they also gained some of their inspiration from the experimentalist dub & version producers in Kingston. A culture of copying, recycling and mucking about borne out of necessity, as well as creating new DJ tunes out of old classics and massive (sometimes violent) competition for the coolest sounds created the blueprint (or part of) for hiphop and electronica.

As is often the case, it all comes back to Jamrock.

    Re: Spotify

Doesn't Last.fm already do a lot of that but without the cost or the adverts? Pretty sure you can click on artists, albums or get it do you up your own 'sounds like' playlist.

  • Field Theory: That's Super,

I am, and prepare yourself for a shock, also awaiting the Indian series. it should be good.

Yeh, me too. Really enjoyed most of the cricket so far this year, even though it's been a season of missed opportunities. The final overs before the game was abandoned on Friday night were astonishing. Guptil is some find for the Black Caps, a beautiful hitter of the ball. We may have replaced Astle??

  • Field Theory: That's Super,

Hard grounds, sloppy skills, empty stands, random squads, hamstring injuries left right and centre.

Seems a bit gauche watching rugby at this time of year. I'll stick to the cricket and the EPL and start to get interested in the Super 14 when I can sense a chill in evening air.

  • Hard News: Away for the Weekend,

Our rating is principally hurt by theft from cars and burglary. Spain and Portugal are at the other end of the scale, which might surprise anyone who's been pickpocketed on holiday.

Being a dozy pillock, I left my wallet with hundreds of Euros in on the counter top at the Museo de Jamon (Museum of Ham - mmmm, best.museum.ever) on the Passeo del Prado in Madrid. Yep, right across from the main railway station, intersection of two of the busiest streets in Madrid, full of shysters and dodgy geezers etc...

Went back in a mad panic thinking I was toast and there it was, still sitting in full view of everyone, untouched. Of course, later the same day my partner had to forcibly yank her bag to one side in a crowded Metro carriage to extricate a 13 yr old girl's hand from having a fossick around in it.
