The Mayor said on the tv news tonight that business cases had even been made for the projects!
Get a grip Hebe: should be "no business cases".

Yeah. To be fair to the previous council, they were under immense pressure from the govt to sign a cost-sharing deal to the big projects. And to be fair to the govt, they were - and are - under immense pressure to make sure that there was no flight of capital and people from New Zealand's second-biggest city, which would have effectively made it a high dependency unit with only the knackered and the needy left.
Insisting that the deal is absolutely binding no matter how broke the city is after the insurers finally settle up, is wrong and unjust.
We, the ratepayers, will get landed with the bill, generations of unsustainable debt for massive projects on we never had a chance to have input, let alone decisions. It's not okay (to pinch the hook from the psychosocial health campaign gearing up for the third-year fall-down forecasts).

So it all goes. After the crappest year of my and beloved's life health-wise, employment-wise and financially, I'm consoling myself with being an early adopter of the third-year thing. Moments of magic are reappearing. Hope you and yours are going well Rob.

Crossed fingers unclenched: all went well and got a decent lot of pix which satisfied everyone. Nora, the assistant idea was great -- a megaphone for rounding up the stragglers in the groups would be an addition (the DJ failed to show so no sound system). I'll post one or two when I get to the PC.

Wish me luck you inspiring Capturers: I'm photographing my niece's wedding this afternoon; nervous much. The first time I have done anything like this (and the request came as a direct result of playing around on Capture).

Thanks for the vicarious holidays. Wintry waters and Onetangi lovely. And Jackson's floating dandy. Sorry I cannot contribute: I have lost six months of photos; irretrievably. Shrug: more irritated than bereft fortunately.

The Cunliffe announcement looked rather like the sort of slight chaos that can happen when a new team is still being formed: lack of co-ordination, haste, and a lack of detail thinking by those with strategic oversight. (Nitpickers are an essential part of any campaign). The timing was dreadful: worryingly disconnected from their potential audience's lives when a local hero is literally on the world stage on a holiday day in the biggest vote catchment. Wouldn't have happened in Chch East with the old warhorse Anderton on every detail.
