On the cooking-for-one front,I'm not worried about eating the same thing on successive days, if (as I try to ensure) it's something I like a fair bit. So the soup season gives me a great chance to indulge in kumera and blue vein cheese soup. With repeats

The interview with Jim Mora was underwhelming. I t might give us all peace of mind if he wasn't rather too evidently pursuing commercial motives using his daughter, It's kinda tacky this.

Nice post Hilary about some of our silenced lives. I never cease to be amazed/bemused at the huge variety of ways that disabled lives have been, and continue to be, made invisible within a society we inhabit. The institutions such as you describe have had a long shadow and looming impact. And the 'institutional thinking that has informed these places has been present in a huge variety of settings and for disabled people across the whole spectrum. And yes, Robert was the first learning-impaired person to speak at the UN.

Yes, Jonathan, indeed, it would be good to have substantive conversations on important issues of disability that affect us. Seems to me those "Why? " questions are the least well-answered of the questions about disability. Perhaps they're ultimately unanswerable.

I wouldn't hold your breath about an apology Matthew. Actually a good sincere "sorry" ceremony (yes I did say ceremony, which is not the same as a bunfight) could be quite good. I listened to all of today's (RNZ) offerings about the coroner's report and can't quite rid my head of the echoes of the loss, pain and unrealised hopes for "something" that hasn't happened yet in some of the voices.

Disgraceful behaviour by the government, and don't we all believe Peter Dunne telling us it has noting to do with their speaking out against Sky City's manoeuvres?
